On some nights, I would occasionally sneak out of my room to watch the chaos ensue on the streets below. I always carried my trusty sword at my side when I went out too; my hand ready to grab the hilt in case of an attack. I left my quarters as silently as I could and made sure I locked the doors behind me. The vacant hallway always echoing my boots loudly, as they excitedly tapped the smooth marble floor. My presence was never noticeable to any nearby guards, which was great for me when I tended to do these crazy kind of things. I just didn't like dealing with these incompetent fools, especially not at this hour. It was TOOO FUCKING early for their nonsense. They knew I was a royal court member, but some thought I was either just the crazy local witch that spoke to cups in the dining hall or a small, lost first year academy student. -sigh-

I liked the crazy witch part the most though.. -evil yet soft laughter- I loved tricking the newbies with flying candelabras and 'talking' objects and whatnot, it scared the shit out of them. Some of them even asked me how I did the trick so they can get their 'mates' with it too. I felt like a proud teacher amongst eager learning students that day..

I sighed softly at those memories and hurriedly crept toward the east wings garden patio; the door was never closed here, so a cool breeze greeted me from the open doorway as i approached. I walked out onto the balcony and I climbed the side wall ladder that grew my lovely white bougainvilleas. As I reached the top, I grabbed onto the railing, the frigid metal ice cold to the touch. From up here, I would sometimes see an abundance of small houses blow up simultaneously in light bellow me, but in small patches. The sounds of the oncoming night patrols metal boots clanking wildly on the cobblestones, their echoes drumming loudly on the dark and barren streets. Their presence and noises disturbed most of the sleeping residents, causing some of them to come out and start arguments with the Knights; all while they're in the midst of a small battle or discussion with the thieves or whoever else it was too.

At one point of the night, I heard the blare of distant horns, that came from the north side of the kingdom. That signified, that current troops who were on duty, have to report to the northern gate immediately, well, the ones that were on actual duty for that, that is. The King was most likely expecting some sort of important visitor the following morning, since the north gate is where all of his regal foreign visitors come through, because it's, "large enough for their carriages and small armies to come through safely and easily without being bothered as much and blah, blah, blah. I'm SOOOO important and I deserve special treatment. OOOO." UGHH..

It was amusing to see the so called 'thugs' though, seek out petty revenge on the newcomers and anyone else who entered the northern side of the city because it was supposedly 'their territory'. The punks did it, because they thought those people were better than them and though they were a threat to their underground operation. Hmph suuuurrre, I thought. Like, the royals care about your businesses.. Or maybe they did.. Sometimes, the thugs even find out their old commander is visiting the city too and they just want to 'talk' to them about the real reason why they fired them from the army and I'm just thinking.. I don't think, 'talking', involves hitting people with that puny ass rapier behind your back. If it does in your book, you better get a sturdy one first, kid, then come back and pick a fight. What a bunch of morons though, sheesh. A small blade like that was useless around here. Rapiers were no match for Knights, they fucking crushed you in a matter of seconds, regardless of whatever weapon you were using against them. They really thought their blade could block or parry them easily, but, P'SHHH, BOYYY, THEY WERE WRONG ABOUT THAT.

The King didn't hire just any ol' Knight who was courteous and showed mercy, when necessary, in the heat of battle. He hired transcendently apathetic Knights, who came from otherworldly realms; their fighting styles wicked and cruel on the battlefield. His army was a humongous thriving legion of berserk, yet civilized soldiers who all knew how to fight astonishing well, each Knights style more diverse than the last. Esoteric Knights pertaining to their own peculiar guilds or factions, had their statuses praised upon within them; their presence thrilling to the those citizens when glimpsed in public, creating small rowdy crowds on the streets. The Knights of Relana were mostly known for declaring their own lives to the King and his army for the benefit of the war and for the fame it brought them, thereafter. A minority of some just didn't care about that sort of stuff though and lived their lives freely, the King respectful of their lifestyle choices and decisions. I had my fare share of favorite Knights in the legion too and when I got the chance to work with them, 1-on-1, on their magic skills, I completely flipped my shit at the wonderful opportunity I was given..
