chapter 4

Lukes P.O.V

It's been three days since I've visited Ashton. The doctors told me it was too late to perform any type of chemo on him, because it wouldn't work this far into the cancer. They said he had brain cancer.
I don't know why I said what I did..I guess I was just mad. Mad that when finally got a friend, he gets cancer. Well, he's had cancer.
I decided to go see Ashton again. But, when I entered the room, he looked worse. He had terribly pale skin, and there were dark circles under his eyes. And each day, it just kept getting worse and worse. until one day, I got a call during my free period at school. It was from the hospital. They told me to get to the hospital quick if I wanted to say goodbye.

Ashtons P.O.V
Doctors were rushing in my room and telling me to try not to fall asleep. I was about to doze off when Luke entered the room. I knew exactly what was going on. He had tears streaming down his face..And I did too.
"Luke, it's fine..You didn't know me for that long, anyway." I tried to comfort him.
"You don't understand, Ash..You were my first and only friend..And I feel terrible about yelling at you the other day. Even though we haven't known each other for that long, I wanted to say..you're the best friend anyone could ever ask for, and it was amazing to have you as mine. I will never forget you, Ashton. No one will ever replace you.." Luke had tears pouring out of his eyes.
I tried not to feel sad. I jut wanted to be happy when I died. But then I realized..my mom most likely got a call from the hospital. And yet, she never came. I felt my eyes getting heavier.
"I could say the same to you, too..Luke." I Said between breathes. "Could you do me one last favor, Please?"
"Yeah, sure, anything for you, Ash.."He smiled weakly.
"Sing me to sleep." I said, closing my eyes before I heard Luke start to sing 'I will follow you into the dark' by Death Cab For Cutie.

And that's the story of how I died.
