Chapter 7

Max's POV

It's been a few weeks since the fire. Billy is now my legal guardian. We had a funeral for my mom and Neil. I really wished my mom didn't die. Now i'm at school with my friends. Mike hasn't forgiven El and I didn't get enough sleep. We have a test today which sucks. "Max!" El said bringing me out of my thoughts. "What's up?" I asked. "We have to go to class, let's go." She said. We head to our class and we had our test. I'm pretty nervous if I failed or not.

Lunch Time

We head to the cafeteria and we got our food and sat down at our table. "What are we doing this weekend?" Will asked. "Me and El are pretty busy" I said while looking at El. I was lying but i'm sure El got the message. "Yeah, we're pretty busy, sorry." El said. "I'm gonna head on a family thing" Lucas said annoyed. "Well I have a thing my mom wants me to go to" Dustin said. "How bout you, guys?" Dustin asked while looking at Mike and Will. "I think we're gonna have a sleepover" Mike said. "Oh cool" Lucas said.

After school

"El!" I said. "What's up, Max?" She asked me. "You wanna hangout?" I asked. "Yeah, sure" El said. "Where?" "At my house?" I asked her. "Yeah, cool" She said. We head to my house. We arrived and went in. "Who's that, Maxine?" Billy asked. "It's just my friend, Billy" I said. "We're just gonna study" "Yeah yeah, just don't disturb me" He said. We head to my room and I closed the door carefully making sure Billy doesn't hear. "So..." El said. "So..." I said. "Wanna do something?" She asked. "Yeah, sure" I said. "A tickle fight!" I shouted not too loud. I went up to her and tickled her. She tickled me back until i'm on top of her. We made eye contact until I leaned in. Surprisingly, she did too. Our lips touched and I felt my cheeks getting red. I pulled away smiling. "Seriously, what are we gonna do now?" El asked.

Mike's POV (a switch up lmao)

"Hey, Will!" I said. "Oh hey, Mike" He replied. "Do you wanna go to my house?" I asked. "Yeah, I'd love to." He said. We head to my house. We arrived and we head to my room. "So what do you wanna do?" Will asked. "I don't know" I said. "We should have a pillow fight!" Will shouted. "Bet!" I shouted back. We grabbed our pillows and started the fight. Will won the fight. We were out of breath and we were laying on my bed. "Hey, Mike" Will said. "Yeah?" I asked. "I had a fun time today" Will said with a smile on his face. I don't know why but i've been getting butterflies in my stomach when I see Will smile. But I don't when I see El smile. We were now face to face. Our faces were so close. We made eye contact. I looked at his lips and looked back at his eyes. I leaned in. He did too. Our lips were now touching and I can feel him smiling. We were kind of making out for 20 seconds until I pulled away. "That was.." Will said. "Fun" I said. "I think I like you, Mike" Will said. My heart was beating so hard. I wanted to make this happen and it finally did. I kissed him and I pulled away. " Me too, Byers" I said with a smile. Will smiled too and leaned in. We were making out for hours.
