A Fear To Keep Safe

**Amane's POV**

"What the heck does a red string have to do with love?" Nene-san was trying to be calm.

I chuckled, "The red string is something your born with, Nene-san, the other end is where your soulmate is. Everyone has one, even you." I said.

"That makes no logical sense." Nene-san argued.

I patted her head, laughing, "It's not really supposed to! Magic connects us all, logic isn't always the answer!"

Nene-san quickly got up, smiling, "It's been an hour, time to go!" she ran out of the room.

She's a beauty. Not obsessed with me, very calm and collected. Even though she doesn't believe in love now, she will eventually. I just have to hope she'll love me. I got up and left the room, going to my dorm, shared with Minamoto Kou. I think he knows Nene-san, so I'll ask about her.

I unlock the dorm door when I get there. Then, I open the door seeing Kou and Mitsuba hanging out.

"Hey, Mitsuba-kun, hey, Kou-kun!" I waved to the two boys, which were my best friends.

"Hey, Amane-kun!" The two waved.

"Want to hear a joke?" I asked.

"Sure!" Mitsuba-kun looked curious, Kou was already dreading it.

"Why do actors get told break a leg?" I asked.

"Why?" Mitsuba-kun said.

"Because there's always a cast!" I burst out laughing with the other boys.

"Also, you said you were meeting up with a girl? Why and who?" Kou-kun asked.

"I'm going to ignore half of that, but what do you know about Nene Yashiro?" I asked.

"Well, quite a bit. I know her as a friend." Kou-kun looked like he was trying to remember something.

"I know her as well, Amane-kun." Mitsuba-kun said.

"What does she like?" I asked, hoping not to be obvious.

"She likes roses, movies, strawberry filled rice cakes, and more I can't remember." Mitsuba-kun replied, Kou-kun nodding.

"Thanks, guys!" I smiled, waving and heading out.

So, she likes roses, movies, and strawberry filled rice cakes... She's one in a million. I wonder if Mitsuba-kun and Kou-kun are together yet, I should've asked. I saw Nene-san nearby, I grinned and started tip toeing to her. Trying hard to not laugh, I tapped her on the shoulder.

"Kyaa!~" Nene-san turned around and almost punched me.

"Oh, it's only you... Yugi-san." Nene-san looked at me unimpressed.

"You have to admit I was great." I said.

"Indeed you were, you were as good as a bee trying to pollinate another bee's nectar." Nene-san said.

"Heh..." I walked a bit closer to her, grabbing her shoulders.

"What're you doing, Yugi-san?" Nene-san rolled her eyes.

"Call me Amane-kun, okay?" I said, staring at her.

"Whatever." Nene-san rolled her eyes.

"Yugi-kun!" I heard a familiar voice, another popular kid, "Are you together with Nene-chan?!~"

I blushed hard letting go of Nene-chan.

"No! I remember vividly what I promised, I won't love anyone!" I declared, I hate lying to myself.

The girl stared at me for a second, then turned to Nene-chan, "My mistake, let's go."

I immediately went to the dorm. I bust open the door running to my bed, ignoring Mitsuba-kun and Kou-kun staring. I dived onto my bed, how dare that girl almost expose me! She will pay! Ao-chan is so mean! I sighed, turning my head to the right, seeing the time was 9:54 PM. I sighed then I sighed. I usually go to bed at 10:00 PM, but I don't want to anymore.

I went onto Instagram, I gained 1,000 more followers in the last five minutes apparently. Meh, I searched every term I could find for Yashiro. I then found it, her Intagram was nene.yashiro154. (A/N: DON'T SEARCH THAT ACCOUNT, IT'S WHAT I MADE UP AND IF IT'S REAL DON'T THINK IT'S YASHIRO PLEASE). I decided to look at her posts, I saw one of her in front of her dorm, #107 heh? I want to go there and see what she's up to. But that's rude. I decided I'll head there tomorrow maybe.

*The Next Day, Nene's POV*

Yesterday was awkward. Today has been too, it's only 12:33 PM and people have been looking at me. Even the Amane Fan Club girls talked to me and said that I was cool. Why were people suddenly talking to me kindly? I walked to a random person with the school paper and snatched it, closed it, leaving my thumb so the page wasn't lost and looked at the cover. It was titled, "Nene Yashiro, The Girl Who Can Be Rude To Amane". What?! I gave the paper back to the person and stomped angrily to the school printing office where Amane-kun's brother would be writing another paper. I opened the door angrily and walked in.

"Oh, hey Nene-san!" Tsukasa greeted me.

"Don't 'Nene-san' me! You put unneeded information on the school paper! Now kids are trying to talk to me!" I yelled.

"Then, you should've declined Amane's offer, " Tsukasa began, "He would've tortured you, but he just wants to be your friend. He's sat behind you since elementary school, always feeling bad for you."

I held back words. Amane-kun wanted to talk to me since elementary school?! That's impossible. Sure, I felt eyes on me, but I passed it off as bullies. And he called me daikon-san. It's unacceptable.

Tsukasa glared at me like he was reading my thoughts, a shiver went down my spine and I left the room to be spotted by Amane-kun.

"Hey, Nene-san!" Amane-kun waved at me, signifying to go over there.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Are you excited for your next lesson today?" Amane-kun asked, his eyes sparkling with joy.

"Sure." I said.

"Amazing, Nene-san!" Amane-kun grabbed my hands, "But, today's lesson I'll be using a different approach."

"And that is?" I asked.

"I got an exception from the teacher's to use the classroom now, come one." Amane-kun dragged me to the classroom we were in yesterday.

"Today's lesson will be expressing your fears." Amane-kun smiled.

"Why would I tell you?" I asked.

"I'll tell mine, then." Amane-kun smiled at me, "I'm scared of being alone. Expected of someone with tons of friends, eh?"

"Sure." I said, "I can tell you mine I guess."

"I have a fear of being cursed." I muttered.

"I'll protect you from that, forever." Amane-kun looked at me, his gaze filled with truth.
