"Are you sure you don't like it, I think it's beautiful!" Pepper says, standing behind me looking at my reflection in the huge standing mirror. It's a strapless magenta dress with silver and gold jews starting at the top and scattering out to mid thigh length, then its fans out to the floor in the plain magenta color. The best way I could describe the dress is similar to the shape of a mermaid tail. "I think we better keep looking." I say, Pepper looks sightly disappointed but helps me out of the dress never the less. We scan through what feels like hundreds of dresses. Rack after rack with nothing. For a place with a five star recommendation, according to Pepper at least, it has some of the ugliest dresses I've ever seen.
After about two hours browsing the store we leave empty handed. Pepper suggests we could design my own dress and get it custom made, but that felt like too much for just one winter formal. We stop to get lunch before heading back, a taco place I spotted as we were driving. "Hey, just for fun why don't we go to a thrift store and see what they have?" I suggest as we're eating. Pepper was hesitant about buying me a dress someone else has already worn, but when I reassured her we'd probably wouldn't even find anything she said 'what the heck' and gave in. We did some research and found a place called Vintage Thrift Shop and made that our next stop after eating.
Vintage Thrift had so much more than just clothes we found out. It sold furniture, books, clothing, artwork, and trinkets. Even if we came up empty handed again, I knew we'd still have a fun time at least looking around. There was only one worker, a women in her early thirties with long dreaded hair and lots of clinky jewelry. She was polite as we walked in and keep changing the music in the store mid song before finally settling on one. It wasn't hard to find the dress section and me and Pepper went right to work. There were for sure a good amount of dresses me and Pepper agreed were horrible looking, but tried on for laughs anyway. Six gag dresses later, we were about to leave when a royal blue fabric caught my eye, pulling it off the rack revealed a beautiful floor lenghth royal blue satin dress with a lattice back design. "Pepper!" I yell out, Pepper comes running from the other side of the store frantically, "What is it? Whats wrong?" She says, before coming to a stop when she sees the dress I'm holding. Instantly she pushes me into a dingy changing room to try it on, when I step out again and her eyes fall over me she looks like she might cry. "Is it the one?" She asks, noticing how I'm observing myself in the mirror. Twisting my hips and watching the skirt move elegantly with my movements, " I think it is." I say happily and checking the pice tag, "And and only twenty four dollars.". We look around a little while longer before finishing up and checking out. "I'd say we had a successful day." Pepper declares proudly, getting into the drivers seat of her car, "I think so too." I replied, climbing in to the seat next to her. She starts up the car and pulls out of the parking lot, and we make our way home.
When we walk out of the elevator all the men are around the kitchen island talking, and Natasha is in the living room lying on the couch reading. "So were we successful?" Tony asks, noticing the bag Pepper was holding, I nod in response. Pepper puts down the bag and goes to join Tony and I make my way into the living room and take a seat on one of the couches. Natasha notices my presence and throws me the remote that was lying next to her. I pick something on Hulu and settle in for the evening. Later that night we have TV dinner, Tony makes spaghetti and we all eat in the living room and watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
