Something about the secret side of Wakanda seemed magical to Ava. All of the technology they had developed, keeping it as they knew the world didn't deserve it yet.

She was glad — she didn't want to think about what would happen if Ross got his hands on this stuff. Her spine shudders as she gets chills from the mere thought.

Ava wasn't one to hate people.

The former experiment had an air of friendliness and she was quick to love the people around her. She was trusting — which was... strange considering where the Avengers had discovered her.

But it was who she was.

Whether she was different before — with her former family, she didn't know. But it didn't matter — because they didn't save her, Pietro, Wanda and the Avengers did.

Despite all of this, she hated Secretary Ross. He made a fire burn through her blood, and the power beneath her skin buzz to the surface — but now, because of him... she couldn't even use her abilities. And she was ready to explode.

Her and Pietro had stayed in Wakanda secretly whilst all the other fugitives scattered across the globe.

And the reason they had stayed behind? For Shuri to try and fix Ava.

T'Challa — the King of Wakanda himself — had been rather supportive of the girl and Pietro. He pitied them, yes, but he also cared. No person deserved to go through what Ava had been through.
Especially not Ava.

Every time Ava attempted to use her powers, she'd be haunted by a phantom pain — like a lightning bolt wrapped around her neck. And she just can't stand it — it's too much.

And the longer she went without using her abilities, the stronger they felt beneath her skin, building up and becoming stronger.

When she couldn't even conjure the smallest of things in her palm, a heavy feeling sat itself upon her chest — and then, more than ever, she wished Tony was there to help her.

But he wasn't.

When Ava woke up in their second Thursday of staying in Wakanda, it wasn't because she'd had enough sleep.

Judging from how sweaty she was, and the way her head pounded at every movement... it wasn't on nice circumstances.

So, she thought back to what she could remember from before she woke up. Was it a bad dream?

But before she could think very deep into it, flashes of unknown surfaced in her mind — things she remembers. From what she could recall... they weren't present in her mind before she fell asleep.

"Piet?" He didn't answer her calling out for him, which immediately put her on edge. "Piet?" She repeated again, becoming scared.

"Hello? An— anyone?" She shouted, feeling the pain against her head worsen from her calls. She slipped her legs over the side of her bed,

Panic tightens her chest, hurting her throat, making her eyes tear up. She didn't like not knowing where Pietro was — it was scary. What if something had happened?

"Pietro!" She shouts, despite the pain in her head pounding, making her want to curl up and hug Pietro and her Auntie Wanda.

Ava yells and yells, but nobody appears, nobody comes and the lights don't turn on.

A shiver ran through her, and she squinted in the dark. God, was Ava tired of the dark. For somebody who could create light in the palms of her hands, she had seen a lot of darkness in her life.

So when her eyes start glowing and pain claws at her neck and head, she isn't sure what to do — what if Pietro is in danger?

She has two options in that moment — she can one; Allow the pain to overwhelm her, and let the hum of her powers fade away, or...
Or she can withstand the pain and fear, and use her powers to look for Pietro and if need be, protect him.

And for the first time in about three weeks, Ava makes progress — and ignores the pain and fear and sadness.

Her lips are trembling and her hands are shaking with effort, her legs straining to keep her upright. Everything is twitching, rearing to go; all the powers she hadn't been using crashing down over her like some sort of tidal wave.

And her back arches, eyes darting to the ceiling above as she yells, hands shooting out by her sides.

The darkness fades.

Small shards are floating through the air, lighting the room with a positive glow, and suddenly Pietro yells back and everything is okay.

"Ava, Ava, little one!" He calls, appearing by her side instantly. Pietro is quick to scoop her into a big hug, blue eyes teary and he is incredibly overwhelmed with how proud he is of her.
"You did it! Look, look," he tells her, making her open her eyes and gaze intensely around the room.

"I... I did it! Piet— I did it!" She grins at him, before noticing Shuri and T'Challa round the corner, entering the glowing room.

They duck below a few of the lower hanging shards, both of their eyes wide with fascination. The sibling duo both have proud smiles on their faces, faces brightening with awe.

In her excitement, the shards around them all fall as she loses her concentration and concern for protecting the ones she loves.

They sound with a harsh clatter, thousands of little glowing fragments of Ava's power — all of them gathered on the floor. Some fall onto the people inside the room, but the ones that could potentially hurt somebody seemingly dissolve as soon as they're about to make contact.

Light dusts the air, and Ava is even proud of herself.

She knows it will always be difficult, and the fear will take time to fade. Although the marks on her neck have healed up ( mostly due to the lovely and talented Shuri ), Ava is fully away that they leave a permanent scar. But... she's just too happy to care in that very moment.
