Five - now commonly called Katie, as she preferred that to her first name, Ava - had been living happily in England for a while now. She went to school, often visited Jack from the ice cream parlour and also spent the rest of her time with Pietro.

One of her favourite things to do was visit her friends and family. They would either catch a plane, or Pietro would just pick her up and run to their destination. The speedster did not enjoy planes or the quinjet - he didn't like being off the ground at all, if he was honest.

The man was most comfortable where he knew he could run freely and... where he couldn't fall to his death from a flying chunk of machinery.

One of the worst things about his running for Ava, however, was the fact it messed up her much longer hair. It had grown to her mid back since the battle at Sokovia. If she was honest - she didn't really like it being that long. It got extremely knotty and always got in her face at the most inconvenient times - like when she was brushing her teeth, or if she was doing homework... even if she was just reading.

Overall, the 12-year-old ginger had been extremely happy. She was also very curious, and enjoyed learning about things most other kids wouldn't really like that much.

For example, the ex-Hydra experiment was completely in love with the constellations that decorated the night sky - so much so that when she had nightmares, she would stay up and look at all the constellations. She could think of the myths behind them to help her calm down.

The girl she had met when they first visited the small town - Tilly - was Ava's best friend. Ava often reminded herself to try not to get too attached, because if somebody she cared about died... she wasn't sure she could bring them back like she did with Pietro.

"Katie!" The ginger heard Pietro call from the bottom of the stairs. Her bedroom door was open wide, and there were multiple stickers on there, as well as a drawing that Steve had done - she asked for it once he had finished.

"Yes?" She asked once she got to the top of the stairs, pressing her toe into the wooden flooring. Pietro looked up from the steps he had been staring at, moving his gaze to the little girl he thought of like a daughter.

"Come down, somebody's here to see you." He told her with a hint of a smile, making her grin and bound down the stairs. She slipped on the last step, crashing into the speedster. He nearly fell, but caught his footing in time.
"Woah! Careful, little one."

"Yeah, yeah. I got it!" She told him, before skidding through the doorway to the living room, where she saw the last person she was expecting. "Wanda!" She cheered, running on the carpet and crushing he older girl in a big hug.

"Hey, Ava!" Wanda smiled wider at the little girl, using the name that people rarely used. The ginger preferred it if people she didn't know very well called her Katie, and people she did could call her whatever they wanted.

"I thought you weren't coming until the end of the week?" The former Hydra experiment asked more than stated, confusion pulling on her features.

"Well, I wasn't supposed to be, but I decided to visit because we're going on an assignment tomorrow." The brunette woman told her. Ava's eyes brightened and her grin grew larger.

"Really? No way! That's so cool. It's so awesome that my auntie is a superhero!" Both the twins were silenced at the word 'auntie' because she hadn't referred to Wanda as her auntie before. If she saw Wanda as an auntie then what did that mean for Pietro?

There was a loud knock on the door, in a familiar pattern to the duo who lived there. Ava smiled up at Pietro, who nodded with a stifled laugh at her begging expression. She ran out of the room, and opened the door, nearly falling.

"Tills!" Ava greeted the small brunette on the other side of the front door. Tilly grinned at her ginger friend, tilting her head to the side and hitching her unicorn bag further up her back.

"Katie! Are you ready to go visit Jack?" Ava nodded with a smile, before pausing.

"I've just got to go say bye to my auntie and then I'll be back!" She told her shorter friend, before skidding through the hallway - leaving the front door wide open - she skidded all the way to the front room where she tripped due to the carpet.

Two arms grabbed her just in time, preventing any carpet burns - which are surprisingly painful, she learned. Pietro looked scoldingly down at the young girl.

"What have I told you? Be careful when you're sliding on the floor." He told her sternly, and she nodded with a sheepish smile, before hugging him tightly.

"I have to go see Jack with Tilly, but I wanted to say bye first. Wait - is that okay?" She tripped over her own words, realising she had forgotten to actually ask her parental figure.

Pietro nodded, pushing his hair from his forehead with a tired smile. She hugged him again, squeezing him tightly.

"I'm sorry, Wanda! I've gotta go and see Jack! But good luck on your mission. I know you'll do awesome, you're my favourite superhero..." she trailed off for a minute, before gesturing for Wanda to lean closer. "Other than Pietro, but don't tell him!" She whispered to her. Wanda nodded with a laugh, and then Ava ran away again.

The ginger struggled pulling on her trainers, before being successful and running to her friend at the door. "Love you, be safe!" She called back into her home, hearing a vague response sounding like 'you too' before slamming the door shut and setting off for the ice cream parlour - unaware that Pietro froze after processing her words.

Inside the house, Wanda day on the sofa, Pietro soon joining her with some coffee in hand for him, and tea for her.

"So, how has it been? Raising Ava?" Wanda questioned, noting his tired eyes - though he looked happier than ever. The man himself smiled at his younger twin, placing her tea on the coffee table.

"It's tiring, yes, but... I'm very glad I get to raise her. I love her with all my heart, Wanda. And... that's the first time she's said that." He smiled, though his mind was far away - thinking of random thoughts.

"I think it's amazing, soon enough she'll be calling you 'dad.'" Wanda said, half joking and half serious. Pietro found himself hoping for it to happen - he wanted that life.

"Yeah... maybe one day." He grinned, before taking a sip of his coffee. Wanda gave him a teasing smile, and he groaned.

"So... how's it been helping with the math?" She asked, humour obvious in her tone as she struggled not to laugh at her brother's obvious distress at the difficult work.

If only life could stay this way.
