I jolt awake to a loud and annoying wailing echoing throughout the cabin. I groan and lay back down, pulling my pillow over my head.
"Gooood morning everyone! Time to wake up! We're meeting at the cafeteria at 6:00!" a young male's voice echoed throughout the small speakers that were set up inside the cabin. There was a faint echoing from outside, the same message getting transmitted into the larger speakers that were set up out there.
"Again, we're meeting at the cafeteria at 6:00! Don't be late!" a different voice from the previous one came through before there was some quick static and then nothing else.
I furrowed my eyebrows and brought the pillow away from my face, glancing over to the digital alarm clock that sat on the wooden bedside table. My eyes widened once I finally saw what time it was.
5:47 AM.
"Fuck," I cursed to myself as I threw the warm blankets away from my body.
I glanced at Cora, who slept peacefully in her bed on the opposite wall from mine. I walked over to her and shook her violently. Cora woke up with a gasp. She looked up at me and then glared at me.
"What?" she asked, her voice cracking slightly in her half-asleep state.
"We gotta get up," I quickly said and then walked back to my side of the cabin, already looking for clothes.
"Why?" she mumbled tiredly before bringing her blankets over her whole body, "You're not funny."
"I'm not trying to be funny!" I fought while rolling my eyes. Once I turned back around, a change of clothes in hand, Cora was still in bed, "We have a meeting or some shit, come on."
After seeing her do nothing, I let out a groan and placed the clothes onto my unmade bed. I went over to the left side of Cora's bed and yanked off all the blankets from her.
"What the fuck?!" she exclaimed and then sat up, giving me a death glare.
"I'm being serious, get changed," I said in a serious tone before walking away from her.
I turned my back towards her and took off my shirt. I slipped on the first hoodie I'd managed to get my hands on and then some jean shorts that were nearly getting covered by the black hoodie.
I turned back around once I'd started brushing my hair and saw Cora coming out of the tiny, barely functional bathroom that consisted of a sink and toilet that we found out didn't work. She'd changed into some oversized shirt and jean shorts. She let out a huff as she quickly tucked in the front end of the shirt into her shorts.
"If this is some annoying prank you're playing on me, I'm gonna beat your ass," Cora threatened. I said nothing as I finished brushing my hair and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
Once I'd come out of the closet-like bathroom, Cora was already tying her shoes. I quickly slipped on my vans before we both walked past the empty bunk beds and went through the door. The early morning air immediately hit my bare legs, making me shiver a bit.
