I am grateful to have known you for the few short months that we had together. Thank you for helping my brother find a group to conform back to normal life with, and thank you for accepting me too. I guess I have a lot to thank you for...all the chicken soup you made for Joe when he came back late, for the blankets you sent over to my mother when the snow reached up to our knees, for cutting my hair when I over bleached it (I just really want to be Debbie Harry), for staying up with Joe and I's mom when she was worried we both weren't home, and for everything that I am forgetting.
I hope I am able to live up to the image you told everyone I was. Yes, I did listen in on some conversation, again I am sorry for not being caught. (Even though I am pretty sure you knew I was there). I hope also to be able to help Jonah just as you have helped us. Even though I have never uttered a word but "Hello" to him when he dropped off your homemade Challah (quite literally DROPPED off, since when I opened the door he dropped it and could barely utter out anything but "I am Savta, Jonah told me to drop this off").
You showed my family more kindness than we could ever imagine and I hope to return the same to your family. I will carry the lessons you have taught me forever.
Thank you for always accepting me. You have truly taught me that not everyone in this world has been tainted by the evil around it. Though I do not believe in religion, I hope you are at peace with your god (and all the sufganiyot you can eat). In respect, God bless.
