 CHAPTER 二

mission: secret practice is go

Waking up early in the morning was one of the things that Toshi struggled to do. Toshi hated leaving his bed if it was earlier than 9am, which is why he was late to school everyday. The reason however for him waking up at 4am was simply to help Tanaka, Hinata and Kageyama with their secret practice (and yes, Toshi was hoping that he too could secretly take part in their volleyball practice).

Toshi rubbed his eyes as he sleepily walked past Karasuno's gates, mumbling about how he should have got some coffee before he left the house. Rather than continuing to grumble about it, Toshi decided that it probably would be best if he got some coffee from the vending machine.

After purchasing his drink, Toshi continues his journey to the gym. Perhaps he was having second thoughts about waking up early and decided that he wouldn't do something like this again. Even if it meant missing out on some secret volleyball practice. To be honest Toshi values sleep over volleyball. Afterall if he didn't get enough sleep then how is he supposed to give his all whilst playing volleyball?

"Ah! Nikijima-senpai!" Hinata exclaimed as the sleepy male entered his line of vision, "Are you here to help with practice too?!"

"Of course I am. This is also my chance to secretly practice without Daichi knowing." Toshi explained, smiling at the thought of participating in practice.

"Toshi-kun, you could get in major trouble if you get caught." Tanaka said.

Toshi shrugs as he takes off his black volleyball jacket. He knew that if he were to get caught, then his suspension from the club would last even longer. However, that caused Toshi to be filled with a rush and it made the idea of practising even more thrilling.

"Tanaka? Could you help me with some receives?" Toshi asked his fellow second year as he positioned himself on one side of the court.

With a furious nod of his head, Tanaka took hold of a volleyball before he served it to the other side of the court. The serve ended up being powerful giving Toshi a minimal amount of time to react. The second year instantly dove for the volleyball causing it to go back to the other side.

"Again!" Toshi exclaims.

Hinata watched with stars in his eyes and both of his senpai's practised in front of him, before he uncharacteristically mumbled about how amazing Toshi was at receiving.

"Hinata boke! We need to practice too!" Kageyama scowls.

"R-Right!"

Light began to pour through the windows of the gym as 6am came closer with each passing second. Whilst the others were breaking out into a horrendous sweat, Toshi only managed to have one bead of sweat fall down his forehead.

Hinata yet again fails to receive a ball and he falls flat on his face. Toshi hurriedly checks to see if the first year is okay. Ignoring the shouts that leave Kageyama's mouth.

"All I'm doing is receiving... There's not much time left!" Hinata exclaims, jumping away from Toshi, "I want to spike, too! I want to jump, too!"

"Go jump around, then!" Kageyama shouts back.
