Breathe;
And listen to the whistling air as you do.
Breathe;
Because if you are awake today
Life has something new for you.
Listen;
To the sounds when no sound is made.
Hush,
Be quiet,
And open your ears
To a world of wonderful
And calming sounds.
The scratching of nib on paper,
A crinkling page,
The tapping of the pen,
Turning a new leaf,
The loudness of the thoughts in the head
Waiting to be spilt on the sheet.
Water ripples as the stone
Skips into the unknown,
Trickling streams,
Springs spouting from rocks,
Crashing waves on the shore.
The sizzling of a hot pan
As the oils mingle with the spices,
Water filling up in a bottle,
Lemons being squeezed,
A spoon tapped on the rim of a glass,
Water being gulped down the throat.
Opening the curtains
And the windows,
Twittering birds,
Running your hands through the furry blankets,
Folding away your glasses,
Sharpening the pencils,
Siping your coffee slowly, cradling the cup like a baby.
Creaking doors,
Footsteps on the pavement,
Kids licking ice-cream
The panting dog,
A huffing jogger,
Scrunch of tin cans,
Tyres on the road.
The rain pattering on the window,
A peacock calling,
Jumping in puddles,
Your breath cooling the warm chocolate.
Hushed whispers in a large hall
Soft chuckles
Clinking of glasses
Spilling wine
Nails drumming on the table,
Clearing the throat before an announcement.
Scrunched foliage
While walking along a mountain trail,
Leaves skittering across the earth
Whistling wind,
Rustling trees,
Flapping wings,
Galloping horses.
Slow exhale,
Hands running through hair,
Laughter,
Charms dangling on a bracelet,
Creaking swings,
Wind chimes
A call end line
Sniffles.
Whispering, "I love you"
Now breathe again,
Listen to your heart thumping inside you.
They say that silence is loud
And I believe them.
I guess it grows louder because it resonates with my soul.
