Hide
Don't let them see
They will judge you for who you are.Hide
Don't let them know
that on the inside, you are falling apart.Hide
Don't let it show
All the emotions that your heart seizes.Hide
Don't let them think
that they can shatter you to pieces.Hide
And don't let go
of the mask that holds back scrutinizing gazes. They will find the weakest part,
the most fragile piece that binds your whole existence.
They will pretend that they care
then break you down ignoring your pleas and insistence. They will hold you down
with shackles on your heart,
leave you torn asunder. Then you will regret
taking off your mask
And criticize yourself for your terrible blunder. You will hurt
and bleed
and cry out for help,
but they won't listen.
They never listen. They will wait for you
to shrivel up in your own shell,
till nothing but those evocative sequences of life
flash through your mind
and leave you, to find
another peaceful mind to destroy. That is when you will know.
You were never in a fairy tale.
You were in the land of Oz,
trying to hold onto the threads of happiness, the green frames,
The emeralds that never really existed.

A/N: This is a poem I originally wrote for a competition in my school and for some reason I feel like I relate to this the most out of all the poems that I have written.
