Another from my second account CMH2408
You balance yourself on the rickety, wooden fence that separates people on the pier from the chilling sea below. As always, the pier is full of families and couples. Women in floral dresses skip down the boardwalk while men in suits and matching hats follow hot on their heels, eager to catch their name and offer their arm. The sight almost makes you chuckle. Only men could act like dogs following a bone. Young children and a few people that you recognised from class, laugh and cheer as people dive from the side of the pier.
Salt burns your nostrils and the smell of sweet, fresh pastries makes your mouth water. You could really do with something to eat but Steve and Bucky weren't their yet, and your brother always complained when you ate without him. Despite being so small and always ill, Steve had never struggled to eat.
The boys were late, more late than usual. They had mostly likely been held back at school again, probably because Steve started a fight and Bucky finished it. You sigh, you loved your brother but he really started arguments with people too hard to beat more often that he should.
"(y/n)!" You turn your head towards Bucky, a smile on your lips when you spot his usual unkept hair and mischievous smirk. Next to him is your younger brother, who unsurprisingly was sporting a new black eye and a split lip.
Steve looks away sheepishly, the boy too embarrassed to meet your scolding eyes. "Did you at least hit him once?" His silence indicates no but you still look to Bucky who shakes his head. You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose between your fingers. "Okay, I should be used to this by now."
"He's fine." Bucky waves his hand in dismissal and comes to stand between you and Steve. He places his hand on his friends shoulder and smiles. "The little punk did an awful job but I save him like always." Steve rolls his eyes and nudges Bucky back.
That was a mistake.
Bucky stumbles back, hitting your legs. Typically, you aren't holding onto the railing. Your eyes widen when you feel gravity taking control, and suddenly the sea becomes a lot closer whilst the chilling air stabs at your skin. The salt water feels like a slap against your body, and only then do you scream.
Both boys lean over the railing, mouths agape and hands trembling. The other people crowding the pier rush over to the fencing, trying to find your face amongst the rushing pool below. Steve begins to panic, he looks to Bucky helplessly. After a few seconds of staring blankly at the water below, Bucky wrestles his jacket off and climbs over the railing.
Before Steve can stop him, Bucky is already falling through the air and landing with a splash a few meters away from you who chokes on the salt water and struggles to keep your head above the surface. Despite loving the beach, you had never learned to swim. Now, you were wishing you let Bucky teach you how all those years ago.
As the waves push you under, Bucky grabs you by the arm and yanks you into his chest. "You're okay, doll. I gotcha." His grip on your waist tightens as he pushes against the current, moving the pair of you towards land.
"You better, i'm only here because of you and Steve." You hiss. Bucky looks away from land, and peers down at you with a grin that reaches those pretty blue eyes.
"I'm not gonna let you go. I'll have ahold of you till death do us part."
You grin, press a kiss to his cheek. "That better be a promise, Barnes"
>O<
You'd made a mistake. A big mistake. In fact, the mistake was so big that you blew your cover and were now tied down on a metal table behind enemy lines.
