You had only been in New York for two days, and already you were being followed by a strange man dressed in all black. Every time you turn left, he turns left, every time you stop, he hides behind a cluster of people. It was like a dance, your move leads his own. And just like when you dance, this was becoming tiring very fast.

Panic had controlled your every move for the last twenty minutes, forced your legs to move forward despite part of you wanting to stop. With each step, the crowds on the streets seem to thin, less and less people were able to act as some form of cover.

He was like your shadow, a much larger, less shy shadow that liked the idea of getting a lot closer than before. You were an easy target, an unsuspecting British girl with no clue of where to go. Mugging you, or worse, would be incredibly easy to do. Sure, you would put up a fight, but you were practically defenceless.

Typically, this wasn't the first time something like this has happened. During your last holiday to France, a man, also dressed like a character from the matrix, followed you for miles just so he could steal your purse that had only fifty euros in it. The holiday before that, the one to Thailand, you were mugged at knifepoint.

Clearly, you hadn't much luck.

You turn a corner, face falling when you find there to be more dark alleyways then people. Heavy footsteps edge closer, clearly more open to grabbing you in such a deserted area. Taking your phone from your pocket, you pretend to get a message and increase your speed. Distancing yourself from the man as much as humanly possible.

The chase was pointless. Running was pointless. You were going to be caught. The man was a cat, you the mouse scurrying towards the trap. Your head perks up when you spot a lone man turning a corner infront of you, heading towards you instead of away. Swallowing around the lump in your throat, you swap the ring on you index finger over to your ring finger and bound over to the unsuspecting man.

"Hey, baby." He looks down at you, confusion written all over his face. The smile on your own doesn't falter as you look over your shoulder, searching for your follower. Your 'husband' follows your gaze, eyes narrowing when they land on the man causing you so much bother hiding behind a wall.

"I was wondering when you were gonna get here, doll." He takes your hand in his own and pulls you across the street, weaving the pair of you through traffic. You breathe a sigh of relief when the man doesn't follow. "So, I totally remember the wedding."

Chuckling, you follow his gaze down to the ring on your finger. "Yeah, you looked great in a suit." The man smiles down at you, creating creases by his eyes. You smile back and allow yourself a chance to actually take a look at the guy.

He was gorgeous, a true gift from the gods. The sun kisses his skin gold, caresses each of his features until they're flawless. You wouldn't be surprised if he could manipulate the light with the way he seems to catch it. Innocence clouds the blue of his eyes and cancels out the fear they usually carry. Lips, the shape of Heracles's bow. Your eyes would call him simply divine, because he was, there was no doubt about that.

"Keep looking at me like that and I might just have to marry you." He says, smile taking the form of a lopsided grin. You blush, look to your feet as you move your ring to the right finger. "I'm Bucky, and you are?"

"(y/n)." You respond, gaze trained to your feet to ensure no staring. "Thank you, by the way, for going along with that."

Bucky shoves his hands into his pockets, shoulders shrugging. "Well, I wasn't about to let you get mugged or sold. Wouldn't exactly be a great first impression." You chuckle, head cocks to the side.

"No, I suppose not. I mean, what creates a better impression than saving someone from certain and inevitable doom."

"Not much, I imagine." He says with a chuckle.

You take a look around, eyes catching sight of a sign. "So, you don't happen to know any good places round here, do ya?" Bucky grins to himself, hold out an arm for you to take.

"Darling, you come with me and I'll show you the whole city."
