" Do you think aliens exist?" Tenya had to look up from his ice cream cone for that, watching as a concentrated Sero picked at his black fingernails. Tonight was one of his high nights, and while no one else in the McDonald's could probably tell, Tenya knew he was in for a treat.
It had been four months since the two started the tradition of coming to the McDonald's near the mall after work. The first month had been spent getting to know each other. Occasionally there was small hand holding, and quick cheek kisses that left either boy too flustered for their own good.
" Do you?" Tenya decided to press, causing his boyfriend to look up from where he was chipping the paint off his nails and give him a wide, lopsided grin that made his stomach swirl. He was luck to have someone so beautiful.
The second month had been dedicated to working up the courage to ask one another out officially. After all they weren't boyfriends yet. Needless to say a fed up Tenya did the job nicely when he grabbed Sero by the shoulders as they were leaving and just word vomited until he got his point across. Their first kiss was in front of the seasonal Christmas special poster, there was a bird near a parked car and one of the many street lights in the parking lot flickered out.
" Of course I do! Why would the American government be working so hard to hide everything if it wasn't real? Have you ever seen the X-Files?" Hanta pushed, to which Tenya had to roll his eyes. He had not. But anything called 'The X-Files' was a one way ticket to fake town, right on the corner of cheesy and melodrama.
The third month had been a little awkward. They had to figure out how to be a couple. And while sure the ice cream dates were easy enough, soon they had to meet their partner's friends, and once by accident Sero's mom. And while they eventually did it and everyone became well acquainted, their pinned up frustration was taken out by unceremoniously making out in the bathroom. Yeah, not his finest moment, but Hanta had seemed to enjoy it.
" You know that's not real right?" Iida said, he never said he didn't believe in aliens, he just said he didn't believe in a cheesy sci-fi drama from America. Hanta scoffed, rolling his eyes as he went back to drinking his coke. At some point he had started switching out ice cream for soda, while Tenya- vanilla as ever- stuck to ice cream every time.
The fourth month had been rather rocky, Tenya was actually let go from his job, not that he was a bad worker or anything but the manager had been fired and the store was rebranding. So the two of them just settle with Tenya waiting outside the mall for Sero's shift to end. There had been no more crazy make outs since that night, and everything had calmed down it seemed.
" That doesn't mean aliens aren't real, it just means that the X-Files isn't real." Sero tried to reason. Though to no avail as his boyfriend just shook his head, " So you don't think one day aliens will descend from the heavens and destroy the entire world?"
There was something about this lovable dork that made Tenya's insides twist and turn with one smile. He made his brain short circuit if his pants were too tight. Not to mention he had the softest hands in the world, and the blue haired male just found that cute. " No."
Hanta gasped, clutching a large, slender hand to his chest, " Tenya! I can't believe you would say that, I thought you loved me."
His heart jumped into his throat when he said that, sure it may have been just a passing statement. Just a joke in an attempt to amuse him. But regardless he felt it naw at his brain, giving him a headache. He did love him. After months of pining and almost five months of dating, was it appropriate to say something like that? They were just teenagers after all.
Hanta could sense the shift in his mood, a frown appearing on hid face as he awkwardly pushed some of his dark hair from hid face, " Um, babe I was just..."
And then Tenya carefully took his hand into hid own in an attempt to not only smooth his nerves, but maybe settle his own.
Five months in and the two exchanged 'I love you's for the first time. The night was cold as the spring was yet to roll in, and while the duo had walked in talking about cryptids and why they would make amazing pets, they walked out saying nothing, hands intertwined and dorky smiles on their faces. A comfortable silence engulfed them as Tenya walked his boyfriend home. After all, they didn't need a distraction.
