~<3 months later-Lafayette forgave Hercules>~

While I was studying for my exams, James came over to me, kinda flustered.

"You okay, James?" I asked. He nodded, then almost immediately shook his head afterwards.

"So, you know on how there's a dance going on next Friday?" He asked. I nodded. "W-well, I wanna ask Tho-"

"YOU'VE GOTTA LET ME HELP YOU!" I shouted a bit too loud, cutting him off.

"But, how?" James replied, almost in a whisper compared to my shouting. "He's straight, and I don't know if he'll even agree to it."
I then pulled out my phone, and texted Laf.

NeedsNoIntroduction: Hey babe, come to the library. James needs help.

LaffyTaffy: With what?

NeedsNoIntroduction: Love

Next thing I knew, Laf came in bursting through the door, making everyone jump. He then casually walked over to us and sat down in a beanbag. "So, what is this I hear about needing help with love?" He asked.

James rolled his eyes. "It's nothing."

"Yeah right." I retorted, looking back towards Laf. "James wants to ask Thomas to the dance next week." Laf smiled and squealed.

"Yes!!!" He said in a giddy tone. "I was waiting for this day forever! First, you need a plan. How are you gonna ask him?"

"I was just gonna go up to him and ask him." James said, shyly.

Laf tsked. "Non, way too basic. What you need to do, mon ami, is go above and beyond. Posters, lights, maybe some music if possible."

"Calm down there, Laf." I said, stopping him. I then looked to James. "How about throwing a paper ball or something? Simple, and less stressful than asking him face to face." James smiled and nodded.

The next day, during class, we were doing an assignment when I see a paper ball fly across the room, landing on Jefferson's desk. Jefferson grabbed the ball and smoothed it out, and read it. He then looked behind him, trying to figure out who threw it. I pat his arm, getting his attention.

"They should be at your table during lunch. If not, then probably mine." I whispered to him. He nodded and went back to work, stuffing the paper in his pocket.

During lunch, I was panicked to find James at my table. "What are you doing here, go to Jefferson's table!" I said, sitting down.

James shrugged. "What if he says no, or if he doesn't wanna see me? Plus, I like it here."

Laf tsked again. "Mon ami, you're making a mistake."

Then, Jefferson started walking towards our table, holding the paper. "Laurens, did you write this?" Laurens shook his head. "Lafayette?" Again, Lafayette shook his head. "Mulligan?" Once more, I shook my head. Jefferson huffed and started walking away, staring at the paper.

"Aren't you gonna ask James?" Laurens asked, making Jefferson turn back around. "You completely skipped him."

"I don't think this would be James." Jefferson replied. "For one, he's straight. And another thing, this isn't his handwriting."

I then took the paper and looked at it. It was a neat handwriting. I looked at James. "Write your name on this napkin." I said, giving him a napkin. I compared the two handwritings, and the one of the paper is just slightly neater, but they're practically the same regardless. "James, just say it." I said, noticing his pink face.

James took a deep breath, stood up, and faced Jefferson. "T-Thomas..." He started, blushing. "Would you like to go to the dance...wh-with me?"

Jefferson looked at James, wide eyed and with a red face. "James..." He started before James ran off. Jefferson swore under his breath, and ran off to find him.

Thomas' POV

I looked all around the hall trying to find James. I eventually found him in the bathroom, crying. "J-James?" I said, walking in the bathroom. "Are you okay?" I knocked on one of the stalls.

"N-no..." James muttered. "I don't know why I even tried. I know that you wouldn't say yes, why would you? For one thing, you're straight. For another, you only think of me as a friend." I heard him choking on his tears.

I opened the stall and found him a mess. I smiled a sad smile, and hugged him. "Aw, James, you're so, so wrong. You're not just a friend, you're my best friend, and, heh, m-maybe more."

James looked up at me with glassy eyes. "R-really?"

I hugged him tightly. "Of course, Mads. You're the only one I don't lie to you, or go over-the-top to impress you. You're my best friend, and i l-care about you." I had to stop myself from saying love. It's not that I don't like him, it's just...it's complicated...

"So, would you go to the dance with me next week? Even if it's just as friends?" He asked.

I smiled and kissed his forehead, making him blush. "Of course."

Hercules' POV

As I ate, Laf just stared at me. "Uh, can I help you?" I asked.

"Uh, are you forgetting something?" Laf said, expectingly. "Like asking a certain someone to a certain dance?"

I sighed. "Damn, you're needy. Fine." I smiled and looked at Laurens. "Laurens, is it okay if I take my boyfriend to the dance?"

Laurens chuckled and nodded. "Make sure to bring him back by midnight."

Laf smirked and looked at me, rolling his eyes. "You're an asshole, you know that, right?"

I nodded. "Yeah, but you have to admit that I'm a lovable asshole."

Laf smiled as he kissed me. "That you are."
