This story is kind of an AU but not really. There are some differences in how the story goes in the enchanted forest. There are two different types of knights that protect the kingdom. Regular knights and Patronus knights. Patronus knights are soldiers that were born with magic and are used to fight magical enemies instead of normal ones. The Patronus knights are trained by masters that have powers and some that don't have any. Cora will be good and a master in this version. The government of the enchanted forest is called the Enchanted Republic. Every kingdom has representatives. Rumplestiltskin is unknown as the dark one and is trying to become the supreme leader of the republic. If you have any questions just ask them in the comments and I'll answer them and enjoy the book.

Prologue

Emma's POV

I'm sitting in my room playing with my toys and my door opens. It's my parents just looking at me with a woman and a girl with them. "Hi," I say because the silence was weird and I wanted it to stop. "Emma, honey this is Mrs. Mills and her daughter Regina. Can Regina play with you while daddy and I talk to Mrs. Mills?" I shrug my shoulders "Sure Mommy."

Regina comes in and sits across from me and waves at me. Both of our parents walked away and I got up to close my door then sat back down. Regina was playing with some of my toys and normally I would be mad but I'm not this time. As she was playing with my toys I just looked at her. She was paying me no attention but she had mine. All I could think about was how pretty she looked. I guess she could feel me staring because she looked up and looked me right in my eyes."So how old are you?" She asked.

"I'm nine, how old are you?" I ask.

"I'm twelve."

"Wow, you're different than any other twelve-year-olds I've ever met."

"Why do you say that?" Regina asked.

"Because they normally don't like to play with my toys."

"Well, I really like your dolls. I think they're interesting."

"They aren't dolls, they're action figures. Dolls don't do anything but action figures do things plus I built them myself."

"I'm impressed, Emma."

"Thank you." After a little more talking we started to get really comfortable with each other. The more we talked the more I felt weird. Like something wasn't right. Something is off, I just can't put my finger on it. I looked over at Regina and she started to look a little nervous. "Why is your mom here?" I ask Regina.

"She wants to talk to your parents."

"About what?" I ask.

"I don't know." She says looking away from me.

"I know you're lying to me, Regina. Tell me the truth, please." I plead. Regina takes my hands and looks me in the eyes. "You're very special Emma. You have amazing talents that are needed somewhere else. Somewhere where you can help a lot of people. Not just your kingdom but all of the kingdoms in the light realm." Regina explained.

"There's nothing special about me. I am only a princess that has a duty to serve my kingdom." I say going on to my balcony. Regina follows me and puts her hands on my cheeks. "You are so much more than that Emma. I know you've felt your talents before. Whether you've realized it or not."

"Why me?" I ask.

"I have no clue," Regina says, pulling me into a hug. My parents walk in with tears in their eyes. "Mommy, what's wrong?" I ask her. She couldn't speak. The only thing that could come out was tears. "Daddy please talk to me," I beg. He picks me up and places me on his hip. "Emma Mrs. Mills is going to take you on a trip. So you can get big and strong to help protect people." He explained.

"Daddy I don't want to go on the trip. I need to be here with you and mommy. The kingdom needs me to be here to take over."

"I know munchkin but you need to do this. You're going to help a lot of people including your mommy and me."

"Will, I ever see you and mommy again?" I ask him. He places a kiss on my forehead and wipes away my tears. "Yes, muchkin when the time is right." He says holding me tight. "It's time for her to go David." Mrs. Mills says, holding out her hand. I walk to her and turn to face my parents. "I love you both," I say through my tears. "We love you too Emma." They say in unison. Before I could say anything else I was taken away in a cloud of smoke.

We arrive at a huge build surrounded by other huge buildings. "Emma welcome to the Patronus Temple, your new home." Mrs. Mills says to me. I look at Regina and she holds my hand. Her mother scolds her but she still holds my hand. They walk me into the temple and my heart sinks into my stomach. There are people of all ages talking among themselves. As we walked past them they stared at me. Regina could sense that I was scared and confused. "It's ok I'll be here with you," Regina says squeezing my hand.

Finally, we arrived at what is called the council chambers. It was filled with older people that were sitting in chairs in a circle. They all stared at me as I walked in. Mrs. Mills took Regina and sat down in an empty chair. Now all eyes were on me as I stood alone. "Welcome to the Patronus Temple Emma. You have been born with the great honor of being a Patronus Knight. Your parents have hidden you from us long enough it is time for you to begin your journey." Mrs. Mills says as she ushers two people toward me.

They hold me down and strip off my shirt. "What are you doing to me!" I yell. She starts saying what I believe is an incantation as I smell burning flesh. The burning flesh is mine. As she continues the pain gets worse. "Ahhh!" I scream as my flesh gets hotter. The pain stops and I feel markings on my back and markings on my arm. "What is this?" I ask. You have been marked as part of the Patronus Order. Everyone in this room is your master and will teach you how to become a Patronus Knight. You will now refer to me as Master Cora and your new name is Swan." She explained.

"No one is my master and my name is Emma!" I yell at her.

"Oh, child you have much to learn. Take Swan to new chambers. She has a lot to do tomorrow; she'll need her rest." Cora says to two guards. They take me away to my chambers. It's a room the size of the one I have back home. I hate it here there's no way I'm staying. The door opens and it's Regina with clothes in her hand. "Change into these, this will be your uniform."

"I'm not staying here Regina I hope you know that," I say walking past her.

"You can't leave Emma."

"Watch me." I put my hand on the door but she puts her hand on top of mine.

"They'll hurt you." She cried.

"Then let them."
