"We finally found you guys- aww!" Bad's voice sounded out. I rubbed my eyes and looked up, seeing as I was still cuddled into George's side. Illumina didn't dare look at the two of us. I smiled down at George and patted his cheek lightly.
"Get up, Georgie," I giggled and stood up, placing down a crafting table to make the book and quills while the boys talked about their mined discoveries. Once I was done, I put the table and books back in my inventory and tuned into the conversation.
"We couldn't find enough lava to make the portal, so we're going to have to travel to find a lava pool." Illumina said while avoiding eye contact with George and I.
"I made these for you! Well, Dream told me you liked them and so I mined gold and made them," Sapnap yelled as he handed me gold boots. Although they broke fast, I loved how they looked. I pulled them on and grinned, blowing Sapnap a kiss as a way of saying 'thank you.'
I climbed onto Solace and helped Dream up, watching as Illumina got onto Night. Sapnap, Bad and George all walked, messing around with each other as we followed Lumi's lead.
"So, you looked pretty comfortable sleeping on George." Dream broke our silence.
"Yeah, he's pretty warm and soft. We were going to come back but it was late and we were exhausted," I sighed quietly, looking back on the evening. "You really are a big fan, huh?" I snickered as I looked down at the new gold boots I wore.
"I- uh... I guess you could say that?" He chuckled nervously. I shook my head playfully and smiled.
"It's okay if you're not a fan, I won't be offended-"
"Of course I am! Are you kidding me? How couldn't I be a fan?" He rushed to defend himself. I chuckled and placed a hand on his knee, whispering 'there there, Dream.'
"I think it's unfair that Mare never has to walk," Sapnap was back to his complaining again. I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"If I could, I would walk, but Solace doesn't trust anyone but me to hold these reigns. So until you gain his trust you're gonna be walking, riding Night, or having a turn up here on the saddle with me," I stuck my tongue out playfully.
"Hey, boy! Who's a good beast?" Sapnap coed at the large animal. I watched as he fed Solace all sorts of meat in hopes of being allowed to lead the beast. Though, my Solace was no fool, taking the meat when he received it but made no promise to let Sapnap steer. Though they were getting along great, I must say.
"Do you remember anything from before we got here?" Dream asked me as I pulled my focus from my mount and bandana-wearing companion.
"No... Nothing. It's weird. I can't remember what I was doing last." I tried to think back to before the bright flash of white.
"Maybe we're all in a dream together? Like a multiplayer dreamscape!" Bad yelled, clearly overhearing our conversation.
"That sounds cool! Oh my god, what if that's actually it?" George jumped up and down, accidentally bumping into Sapnap and taking them both to the ground, a fit of giggles to follow.
"Doesn't make sense. Our only real bet is that we're inside the game," Illumina turned to give us all looks.
"And where's your theory for that? Since I'm not being presented with one..." I grumbled.
"Well where's the dreamscape theory coming from?" Illumina argued back.
"That's the point. We can only take shots in the dark. We know what we have to do to get outta here, all we got to do is execute." I nodded to reassure us all.
"We should have been in the nether a long time ago! You always set us off track; I still don't get why you're the leader!" Illumina finally let his frustration surface. I sat in silence, not giving my best friend a reaction.
"Who would you like to be captain, then?" Bad asked half sarcastically, half seriously.
"Well obviously we all know that I would-" Illumina started but was cut off with groans from the three boys walking.
"How did I know he was gonna say that? Like- I felt it!" Sapnap and George started messing around.
"It's like his whole personality. 'I should be leader! Look at me!' It's hilarious, how could you not see it coming?" George laughed back and they started to slow down from their laugh attack.
Illumina hopped off of Night and made his way over to the two friends, poking George in his chest and starting to argue. My eyes widened and I stopped Solace, Dream and I sliding off and running over.
"Stop! Hey, relax!" Sapnap yelled as Bad tried to pull Illumina away from George. Illumina turned to shove Bad away, but I caught him before he hit the ground.
"You good, Bad?" I asked, looking him over.
"Yeah, but George isn't," he said as he pointed over to Dream and Sapnap holding Illumina back.
"That's it! Enough! I'm tired of this! You two need to make up and it needs to happen now!" Dream raised his voice sternly. I'd never heard him like that before; not in videos although I had only seen his early ones, and definitely not throughout the time we've been here.
"Mare and I will take Solace, Bad and Sapnap can take turns on Night and you two can fix whatever issues you have while walking ahead of us so we can watch you. Got it?" Dream folded his arms across his chest. The two nodded silently.
"Good. And from now on, Mare and I will be co-leaders. If anyone has anything to say about it, consider it invalid. This is final. Now let's go." And with that, Dream turned around and got onto Solace, taking the reigns.
"What are you doing, co-leader?" I joked a bit as I rested my hands on my hips.
"You look tired, so I figured you could get some rest. I'm sure Solace doesn't mind. Right, boy?" Dream patted the beast's head and got a soft growl in response.
I smiled and climbed up, looking at Bad and Sapnap fighting over Night. George and Illumina hadn't spoken to each other yet, but I know they'll come around. Once I ensured that everyone was okay and settled, I wrapped my arms around Dream's torso and rested my head against his back.
"Night, Dream," I mumbled.
"Sweet dreams, Y/N."
