"Alright everybody out!! Head to the Akuma shelter downstairs, and stay together!!" Mrs. Bustier announced to the class, already at the door counting heads as everyone sped out of the classroom.
As our class walked by the bathrooms I slipped down the hall, unnoticed by everyone, except Alya, who winked and pulled on Nino's hand to urge him to walk faster with her.
I pushed open the door to the girls bathroom double checking no one was watching me slip away.
"Marinette?? What are you doing?"
I jumped when I heard a voice coming from my right. I turned my head to see,
"Adrien...?!" I squeaked, flushed, then cleared my throat. "Oh! Uh... well you see..." I fumbled for a plausible excuse. "Uh... well... I um... well... what are you doing here?"
Surprisingly, he turned red as well.
"Oh uh... my father wanted me to come back to the house... because of the Akuma! But I couldn't sneak out of the school unnoticed... and I needed to go to the bathroom anyways and I uh...."
I giggled, slightly nervously. He was adorable when he was rambling!!
He kept rambling while I just stared on wide eyed, before,
BOOM!!
We both jumped and excused ourselves into the separate bathrooms.
As soon as the door closed Tikki flew out of my purse.
"That was a close call Marinette!"
"I know! It was a little too close for comfort! .... But we don't have time for that now Tikki! Spots on!"
I peeked out the door before deciding it would be safer to use the vents. I didn't want to run into Adrien on the way out and possibly have my identity revealed.
As soon as I cleared the vents, not an easy task mind you, I took off towards the ruckus.
I arrived to an explosion of color. What appeared to be party decorations hanging on every available surface. Streamers, balloons, confetti, all of the above. There were even a few startled looking civilians in party hats or plastic crowns, some even in full princess dresses, seated at tables with tea sets, or standing by party games, confused.
As I surveyed the situation, I heard Chat land behind me.
"Why hello my lady! Don't you think I'd make the purrrrfect purrincess?"
I turned to see him smirking at me with one of the plastic tiaras on his head, and couldn't help the laugh that came out of my mouth at the ridiculous sight.
"Sure, Chat." I said, laughing again as Chat smiled, before remembering why we were here. "C'mon, we have work to do."
Chat walked over to join me, and we watched as the Akuma floated along, smacking people with her princess wand, or shooting them with beams from a distance and turning people into princesses or decking them out in party decorations.
Chat jumped off the building landing behind the Akuma. He, instinctively taking offense while I watched from above, trying to formulate a plan.
"Hey, Party Crasher!!" Chat shouted at the Akuma, effectively getting her attention. "Sorry to pop your balloon, but what's your deal? Someone forget to invite you to your own surprise party?"
"My name isn't Party Crasher!! It's Pale Princess!! And it was my party, but mummy cancelled it!! But I'm here to say it's back on, and everyone's invited!!!"
As Chat and the "Pale Princess" continued to banter, I noticed she appeared to be around 7 years old. She wore a bright yellow princess dress, a tiara on her head (chat was also still wearing his), and her pink, yellow, and white toy wand held in her hand. All of the sudden, the colors become less vibrant, only slightly, but the change was still evident. This was only further proved when it happened again.
I turned to watch as Chat dodged yet another beam aimed his way. I looked closer at Pale Princess and noticed her cough, the colors dimming slightly again, all the decorations now looking sun bleached.
I jumped into an ally and wrapped my Yo-yo around Chat and pulled him out of the Akuma's sight.
"Oof!" Chat grunted as we collided. "Thanks for the save m'lady, but I've got this party under control."
"Did you see that?" I said, rolling my eyes, but otherwise ignoring his pun.
"See what?" He asked, fixing the tiara on his head.
"She coughed and the color of the decor, party dresses, and everything just, faded slightly."
He poked his head out of the alleyway we were in to peer at the huge mass of decorations.
"They do look duller. But what does it mean?"
"It means," I smirked, "it's time for my Lucky Charm!!"
