It didn´t take long before it was time to board the plane. I grabbed my bag and threw away my now empty coffee mug. I stood up and followed the big group of chattering parents, how can they have so much energy? Isn´t it a bit too early for that? Apparently not. We had to show our passport and our ticket one last time before we got on to the plane. I walked behind my mom through the plane that was, thank god, kind of spacious. Mom stopped as she found her seat, I looked down at my own ticket and saw that I was supposed to sit here too. She took her seat at the window and just as I was going to take my place next to her she pulled her hand up, showing me the universal sign of stop. I raised my eyebrows at her, holding up the ticket in my hand.
"Honey, we thought that it would be fun if we moms sit together." She said with a small smile. Wow, she totally just dissed me.
"Where am I supposed to sit then?" I asked pouting a bit. Both Katherine and Elena sneaked by me filling up the row I was standing in front of.
"We adults wanted to sit together, the same with Tom and Victor. So you´ll be sitting with Amanda and Jacob. If that´s okay?" Katherine explained pointing first at the dads taking up a full row and then at Tom and Victor sitting beside an old women who already had managed to fall asleep. I found Amanda with my eyes sitting a couple rows back and sighed pulling away from "the mom row" walking down the aisle. It seemed like Jacob himself had a similar talk with his dad as he stood at "the dad row" blocking my way. I cleared my throat to get his attention causing him to glance up and noticing me. Then he started down the aisle with me in tow until we got to our row where Amanda had already made herself comfortable at the window seat. Instead of sliding in to the middle seat as you would think he would do, Jacob walked past the row turning to look at me. I stopped in my tracks raising my eyebrows towards him.
"Ladies first." He smirked holding up an arm showing me the way. I narrowed my eyes at him, that bastard, everyone know that that´s the worst seat ever especially when you’re going to be there for god knows how many hours. I glanced over the shoulder and saw the long line that we were creating and decided that I didn´t have time to fight him on this one. So I just rolled my eyes at him sliding in next to Amanda.
"Whatever." I said grumpily making him grin, obviously happy with his victory. We´d been on the plane for hours now and at this point I would be happy if I could do anything but sit in this damned seat. All the coffee I drank before we boarded have kept me wide awake the entire ride. Amanda and Jacob however seemed like they have no problem sleeping as both of them where sitting with their headphones on and eyes shut. Amanda was leaning against the window and Jacob was leaning towards the aisle. They only woke for half an hour to eat the meal that the flight attendants served us. But that was worse, way worse. So I was glad when they decided to go back to sleep. Now I was just sitting there in the middle of them awkwardly trying to resist tapping my foot or do anything else to wake them. I looked around the plane and it seemed like most people was either sleeping (or at least trying to), read or watching a movie. Every chair had its own screen, but I´d already done everything that you could possible do on there and also read one of my books. I was out of things to do and right then and there I was as bored as a human being can possible be. And as if that wasn´t bad enough, I needed to pee. I been trying to hold it for like an hour, but the situation was starting to get critical.
I glanced over at Jacob who now was sitting with arms crossed his head facing forward. Did I dare to wake him up? Honestly, not really, or else I would have done that ages ago. Besides it wasn´t the fact that I didn´t dare, I just didn´t want to wake him up. I didn´t really know him, but I myself would´ve been slightly pissed. Maybe I didn´t have to wake him? I looked at the space between his seat and the seat in front of him. Maybe I could just slip through there, it´s pretty wide? I looked at his face again, his eyes are still shut closed and I could hear the music from his headphones leaking out. Okay, let´s do this. I could do this. I stood up looking around before getting in to position facing Jacob. And then, very carefully, I placed my hands on the chair behind him and then slowly started to shuffle my feet across the small space making sure not to touch him even the slightest. I keept my eyes nailed to him checking for any sign of him waking up.
