It turned out that the heat during the day didn't really bothered me when I was dressed for it. In bikini, shorts or a flowy dress I actually could enjoy the temperture. Sure, I stayed in the shadow most of the time and only went out in direct sunlight when I was going in to the pool or the ocean. But, I was managing. My mum was naging me to go into the sun more so I could get some color. Can you imagine? You get skincancer from the sun, so natarally I should want to stay out of it. But there I was with a mother practally trying to push me into the direct, burning sun. She also tryed to push me to socilize. It was all like "Emily, go talk to..." or "Emily, go join..." and why not "Emily, go dance with the crazy belly dancer at this random restaurant we're eating at". I could proudly say that we were two and a half days into our vaccation and so far she was unsuccesfully with both of her missions.

We were all laying by the pool area and I had just begun reading my second book of the trip when a voice sounded through the speakers. It was time for the hotels daily pool activity and the guy holding the microphone was trying to psych up the lazy crowd laying in their sun beds.

"Today we have a very exiting activity to offer, you will looooove this." Said the guy with a thick greek accent. He explained that today they were going to have a competition between two teams and it involved different stations as apart of a race. I looked around me, did anyone want to join that crap on their holiday? Of course, Tom and his friend, who I had learned, was named Axel looked super excited as they were already standing beside the guy with microphone. There also stood James who was waving for Jacob to come join them. Jacob sighed deeply before standing up and walking over too them.

"Come on everybody, we need ten people!" The guy exclaimed and I wondered if it really was necessary to crank up the speakers that loud. It was kind of difficult to get back to my book at this point. A couple and two guys from a friend group joined the group surronding the annoying microphone-guy.

"Alright, alright!" He cheered giving each of them a high-five. "Now, we need some more ladies. Two more!" Couldn't he just accept himself defeated and go on with just eight people? I glanced over at Amanda laying in the sun, but she had her headphones in and looked totally unaware of the comotion.

"Amazing, now only one more lady is needed!" The microphone-guy was really excited when Elena walked over and she just clapped her hands in response. Apperently I'd been "to intressted" in what was going on becuase now he was looking straight at me. The microphone-guy that is. My eyes widned in horror as he rasied his hand and pointed at me.

"You, young lady, you want to join the game." No, I didn't want to join the game. At all. I wanted to read my book without getting disrupted. But the microphone-guy had started walking towards me and I saw that he wasn't going to take no for an answer.

"Yes, of course she wants to join!" A chipper voice hollered from behind me. My head snapped around to glare at my backstabbing mum. I was going to protest but the guy was already there with the biggest smile on his face.

"I knew it! This is the greatest news I've gotten all week!" I really wanted to roll my eyes at that but restrained myself as he reached out and pulled me by my hand toward the sorry bunch who had to this. But when I reached the group everyone was pumped. They had already been divided into teams. So I was just shoved into one of the huddles consiting of Axel, James, the girl from the couple and the blonde guy from the friend group. I felt super awkward standing around in my bikini with these strangers with an audience on top of that.

"So how are we going to do this" The blonde guy asked really excited for some reason I will never understand. They all started discussing and "we" decided which station each one of us was going to do and genral tactics. And suddenly everyone were on their marks. I looked over and saw that I was up against Jacob. Ha! This would be interesting. He smirked at me before turning to look up the little hill. There stood Axel, Tom and the annoying microphone-guy, it was from there the race where going to begin.
