INTELLIGENCE AGENCY HEAD KILLED
Doctors at the Tillham Central Hospital have now confirmed Mr. Tobias Sheldon, president of the Joint Surveillance Agencies Alliance (JSAA), as deceased as of date, following days of intensive surgery.
Motive for the murder is unknown and is under investigation. However, analysts suspect foul play. Mr. Sheldon, who was admitted to the hospital shortly after an "assassination" attempt on Tuesday, 13 November, had undergone injury to the abdominal region as well as extensive fracturing of the skull.
The JSAA has not released an official statement regarding their investigation or their imminent replacement strategy. However, in a private press briefing, current president of the National Intelligence Forces, one of the two branches of the JSAA, Mr. Harrison Jeffries, issued condolences to the Sheldon family and enforced his intentions to run for the replacement position.
He said the following at a NIF briefing.
"Tobias wasn't just a hero, he was a friend. He was the kind of man who would see the potential in every person around him. He was a genuine person and the glue of this nation's intelligence hub. I send my deepest condolences on behalf of the NIF to Marissa Sheldon, and his two children who have lost an incredible father."
"Our hearts go out to all the people who personally knew this man and we struggle to cope with the intense loss of such a stalwart and icon. We as the NIF are determined to bring justice and will endeavor to bring retribution to the ruthless killers who would dare to commit such a heinous act of treason."
"And because of this loss, we need stable leadership now more than ever," he asserts. "In a time where our people are uncertain and fearful for their safety, we need to prove that we can hold a united front here today, that we can hold the people responsible to account. We will not rest until we have found the culprit of this national crime."
When asked about the progress of the investigation, the NIF refused to comment, stating that the probe is at an early stage and that information cannot, until further notice, be disclosed by any of the agencies.
The supplementary faction of the JSAA, the Internal Defense Agency, [IDA] has thus far released no information on their discoveries and have failed to provide a candidate for the reelection bid in January 2020.
As is, no militant or terrorist groups have claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt, however political analyst Rob Hall urges the community to not rule out these possibilities.
"Whoever killed Mr. Sheldon, "he claims. "Must have had a reason beyond wanting to overthrow him. The man was about to leave office. Whoever killed him wanted to send us a message. They wanted to send each and every one of us a message, or a warning, as it were."
"His death is not about killing him, it is about killing us," he continues. 'Our sense of security is the true victim. Our intelligence agencies are shattering and fracturing around us. The message? Our defenses can be torn apart."
