Tea with Granny

The table was set all nice and neat

We sat and could not play

My mother took another aspirin

Hoping her headache would go away

The water was boiling

The food was all spoiling

Waiting for tea with Granny

The tea turned into soda pop

We were forbidden to drink it

The sandwiches turned into cakes

I snuck one I have to admit

Our mother was crying

"Don't laugh." We were trying

At the beginning of tea with Granny

When the cooking pot began to sing

And the kettle began to shout

We got up and danced with the chairs

But my poor mother passed out

Our windows just stared

The bookcase was scared

In the middle of tea with Granny

The beds were out in the yard

The chairs danced all around

We all chased after the cups

As they tried to hide underground

My mother was yelling

Granny, fortune telling

At the end of tea with Granny

Granny put all the stuff back

Even the messes we kids had made

We were inspired by her tricks

Her mischief will never fade

We'll remember this party

"Come back!" we yelled heartily

'Cuz we're anxious for tea with Granny
