Y/N (MAI) POV:

I slowly make my way over to the kitchen to make some breakfast. My eyes are still half asleep, my brain is still in the process of coming back to the real world. I pour myself a glass of orange juice, the sour taste wakes me up a little.

Maybe I can bake some fresh bread today. Just the way mom used to make. I peek into the fridge. Welp, that great… no flour, no milk, no eggs. I sigh, I knew what this meant.

‘’Dad? Can I go out to the supermarket? We have run out of so many things!’’

‘’No. Your brother can go.’’

‘’Dad… the supermarket is 5 minutes away, its 10am, its sunny, nothing will happen to me!!’’

‘’I thought I made myself clear young lady, I said no! You are getting on my last nerves! We are not starting this argument again!’’

‘’DAD! I am not a child anymore! I am 19 for God’s sake!’’

‘’...’’

‘’DAD?!’’

I realised that he was not going to answer me anymore. Out of anger I stomp with my feet on the ground and slam my fists against the fridge. This is ridiculous. Ever since we moved to Onyx 2 years ago dad has not let me go outside the house at all. If I so much as set one foot outside of our garden I get yelled at and pushed back inside. Always telling that it's ‘’dangerous’’ and that the town is not a ‘’safe place for a delicate lady’’ like me.

‘’Being angry like this will not do you any good you know?’’

‘’Easy for you to say Chanyeol. You have freedom, you can actually go outside. Imagine being locked up for two years like I have been!’’ I snap back.

‘’I know little sis, trust me I have tried to convince dad, time and time again. Ever since that disappearance, Onyx and especially the Northern Woodlands have been known to be dangerous.’’

‘’Why did we even move here then?’’

‘’I don’t know Mai… we might find out today though.’’

‘’Huh? Why?’’

‘’I talked to dad this morning, apparently we are having an family dinner tonight, with an important guest.’’

‘’Any idea who they might be?’’

‘’ No idea. I know its a ‘’him’’ though, dad described him as the backbone of this town, whatever that means.’’ ‘’Anyway, I guess I’ll be going to the supermarket then.’’

I rub my face with my hands. My dad has always been the secretive type. In the back of my mind, I knew that he did not move us here, to this ghost town in the middle of nowhere, just for a change of surroundings. It seems that he is more than just an overprotective dad. Chanyeol swung the front door open, gave me a quick smile and left. At least I still had my brother here, and my husky, Buddy. Every time my brother leaves to run some errands, or to go to his horse riding practise...I get scared. I am afraid that he would never come back, and leave me behind. Oh God… I am thinking about it all too much…

The day moved on, or should I say dragged on. The same routine. Day in, day out. Eat breakfast, read a book, sword practise in the afternoon, lunch, clean the house, dinner, and sleep. It is as if every day is pointlessly repeating itself, the days seem to almost be exact copies of one another. I am losing my mind! At least I have dinner to prepare for tonight. Who on earth could be this mystery guest?
