Y/N (MAI) POV:

Taeyong was the one who stood in my doorway. Welp, that is the last person that I expected to come to my room. As he stepped into my room, I took a view steps back defensively. When Buddy saw him he quickly crawled under the bed.

‘’I think this belongs to you.’’ Taeyong said as he placed my bag on my bed. I had not even noticed that I left it on one of the benches outside in the garden.

I tried to work up the courage to say ‘’thank you’’ but I could not get the words to leave my mouth. I was scared enough outside already but now that we were both alone I felt even worse.

‘’There are a few things I have to tell you, Mai. So listen carefully.’’

‘’Okay.’’

‘’As Ten already told you before, you have some sort of special power.’’ Taeyong continued.

‘’But how? I don’t feel any different than how I felt before I went through the portal.’’

‘’That does not matter.’’ Taeyong said in response. ‘’It’s possible that your power just has not developed yet. It takes time, it's different for everyone.

Taeyong’s voice was much more calm than before which made me feel a bit more at ease. His whole energy was completely different.  I noticed that his hair was an even brighter red, it was almost glowing.

Taeyong continued to speak.

‘’My brothers are going to help you to keep your power under control once you get it. Anyway, you’ll be living with us here. You can go anywhere you like in this castle, explore the whole thing if you’d like. However, room is completely off limits...’’

Taeyong’s tone of voice was more serious now.

‘’... If you enter my room, I am warning you that there will be consequences. You’ll know which room is mine, it's the only one with a metal door.’’

He seemed weirdly serious about me not entering his room. But I guess that’s to be expected from a guy after all. But a metal door? Isn't that a little much? He stayed silent for a moment, so I took that opportunity to ask him a question.

‘’What’s your power?’’

In that moment when I asked that his facial expression shifted. His relaxed face tensed back up. His eyes were now glassy, unfocused. Even though we were making eye contact, it seemed like he was not actually looking at me. Some sort of event flashed before his eyes.

I immediately regretted my question. It was obvious that I pushed one of his buttons by asking that.

‘’That is none of your damn business.’’

‘’I was only trying to--’’ I stopped before I could finish my sentence because Taeyong quickly walked over to me.

He ended up standing very close to me. Very, very close. His face was a few centimeters away from my face. He then raised one of his fingers and pressed it to his lip, signalling me to be quiet.

‘’You don’t get to ask me questions. Let me make myself clear, Mai. Throughout your stay here, you are not going to see me very often. But if by some chance you do, you better stay away from me.’’ Taeyong spoke.

I was getting frustrated myself. Everything seemed okay and out of nowhere he got defensive! What did I do wrong?!

My frustration gave me a small burst of courage to speak up.

‘’Look, I don’t understand why you are being angry with me right now! If you don’t like me and don’t want me around you, why do you even allow me to stay here?!’’ I raised my voice.
