The sun was close to setting as Mai ran through the forest. They had no destination but ran away as far as she could until the dark castle was out of sight. Once her view was filled with nothing but greenery did her steps begin to slow down. As she looked around she noticed how many trees had fallen over and the ground was wet. It would appear the forest survived a storm and was recovering.

Mai sat down on a log in an area where light was still escaping in between the leaves and branches around her. Her hands rested in her hands as she stared at the small pond in front of her. The water swirled around ever so slightly. In silence, her eyes swelled up with tears once again.

Y/N (MAI) POV:

How am I going to get away from this place? I don’t want to be here anymore. I began mumbling to myself, as I always did if I was upset.

‘’I didn't think anything could be worse than being locked up in that house for all my life but it looks like I have been proven wrong. I am locked away in another world now and the only people I know in it, don’t even want me here...’’ I said.

I wish Chanyeol was here, he would know what to do.

‘’Maybe I should just forget that I met these boys all together? Pick up Buddy and Lotus and get away from this place.’’ I continued. ‘’Sure, I would not know where to go but I’m sure there is some place I can seek shelter. The castle can’t be the only place that exists here.’’

As much as I tried to convince myself, I knew in the back of my head that leaving was not an option. Despite being in the company of 21 other boys, I never felt so alone. This realisation felt like a gush of cold air  that I could not seem to shake off.

That is when I noticed it.

I saw a bird standing on a tree stump a few meters away from me. I rubbed my eyes and then saw that the bird was unlike any other I had ever seen. The bird  was beautiful. It was black and white but it looked unnatural. Its beak was unusually sharp and its wings looked like they had stripes and swirls painted on them.

It stood there completely motionless until it suddenly turned its head towards me. As it opened its beak I expected it to let out a horrible shriek but it didn't. Instead, I saw more birds emerging that looked the same as the first one.

I stood up to see I was surrounded by about 30 of them. Maybe even 50.

All at once, they started flapping their wings and flew up into the sky. I was mesmerised as they flew around like it was some kind of performance. It looked like some sort of dance.

And just like that, one by one the birds began to disappear like smoke. At this point, with everything else I already saw I was not even shocked. I was more confused than anything.

There was only one bird left in the sky now and it flew back to the ground and past my head. I turned around and could not see it anymore. In its place, I saw someone leaning against a tree.

‘’Are you alright, Mai?’’

‘’Ten! It's you. H-how did you find me here?’’

‘’I come here in the forest a lot to train, my power has been a little... inconsistent.’’

I wanted to ask him about his power but the first thing that came to my mind was a different question.

‘’Did you see those birds, Ten?’’

‘’Oh I saw them. In fact, I made them.’’ He replied.

Ten read the confused expression on my face and smirked.

‘’I mean, I drew them actually. That’s my power. I can make anything I draw come to life. Anything that I have drawn at least once I can recreate with my hands, as many times as I want.’’

Before I could say anything, Ten continued to speak.

‘’Come on now, that pretty cool isn't it?’’ Ten smiled confidently.

I was in such a bad mood for a while now, but seeing how excited he was when telling me about his power made me chuckle.

‘’Why did you make so many?’’

‘’I… I saw you sitting over there and well… you looked like you were really upset...’’ Ten stood a little closer and put his hand on my shoulder for a moment.

‘’...I didn't know if you wanted to speak to anyone or not so I just decided to make some birds, make them fly around a bit to cheer you up.’’ I also heard you say that we don’t want you here. Mai, that’s not true.’’

I looked down at the ground, feeling a bit guilty about what I had said.

‘’I know Taeyong was a bit mad at you. But don’t hold that against him, please. He has a hard time controlling himself sometimes when he’s-- nevermind. All am saying is, please give us another chance.’’
