Their bond grew closer than ever. Considering they only had one week before the games, they tried to make the most of their time but also trying to balance training, interviews, and time with each other, whilst being watched by public eye. The hardest thing for them was keeping their relationship a secret. Finnick told Violet how if the careers and other tributes knew they were together, that they would use Violet as one of Finnick's weaknesses and they would target Violet to get Finnick in a place where they could kill him. They both decided this was for the best, and as training came barely anyone thought anything of them together. The only other person who knew about what was going on between them was Mags. Mags smiled whenever she was them together, because it reminded her of the good old days when she was young and free. Finnick trusted Mags not to tell anyone, and so she didn't.

Until, on the second day of training, their bond was exposed.

As Finnick Odair swung his golden trident at the red computer programmed dummies with Mags watching him and cheering him on, Violet was a few yards away, throwing her steel knives at soft plastic targets. She was aware that many tributes would be observing eachother, to know which type of people they would have to face in the game, but she was unaware of the district one boy, Blaze Porcius, staring at her behind the glass wall.

He stood there for five minutes in awe, not because of her knife skills, but over her breathtaking looks. He found it almost unbelievable that a girl like this had no allies, but at the same time he was happy that he could try and convince her to become one of the careers, considering she was in a high district. As she finished her fifth round of knife throwing, he slowly walked over to her, making sure she couldn't see him. She put her final knife back in the holder, and was surprised to feel a hand on her backside.

She whipped her head around, shocked and upset that someone would even dare touch her there. She didn't really know who she expected it to be, but was shocked to see the district one boy behind her, his lips covering his shiny white teeth with a smirk. "Well hello there district four girl" he said, flashing his eyes. Before she even had time to reply to this rudeness, she saw a boy ran up to Blaze and slam him on the ground, punching his no longer smirking face.

It was Finnick.
