Arya and I left before the other elves had decided on a new queen. I was anxious to leave and find out what was out there. Having been tied to the forest for most of my life, I had never before been out of Du Weldenvarden.

"Excited?" Arya asked me as I climbed on Fírnen.

As Arya passed Freohr up to me, I replied, "Very. Where should I put him?"

"In here," Arya replied climbing up onto Fírnen's back and showing me an open saddle bag with a grated top.

I placed my dragon in the bag. After Arya tightened our leg straps, we took off headed to the point where the Az Ragni converges with the Elda River. It would take us six days to reach the spot, from there we planned to ride east till we reach the ocean. The lengthy trip gave me time to get used to being so far from home. So far from my dunei, Edoc'sil. Edoc'sil was rather tall even for an elf, and his raven's black hair was never tidy. He had slanted obsidian black eyes that I always got lost in. As we flew, I got so lost in my thoughts about Edoc'sil that I almost didn't notice Arya asking me a question.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked me.

"It's nothing," I replied.

Arya shook her head, "It doesn't look like nothing. You're crying."

Just as she said that, I wiped at my eyes trying to get rid of the tears, "I just miss someone already."

"Who? I didn't know you were close to anyone."

"We didn't want anyone to know. Me being the queens closest handmaiden, we didn't feel it would be appropriate for anyone to know about our relationship."

"Who is he?"

"Edoc'sil," I replied sheepishly.

"Edoc'sil! As in the Edoc'sil!? The 'Everyone wants him' Edoc'sil!?"

I nodded, "The very same."

Arya shook her head, "Wow, I never thought he'd actually be with someone."

"Yeah, but isn't that what people often said about you before Eragon came into your life?"

"I guess you're right. I never paid much attention to what others said about me."

After that we rode in silence till we reached Kirtan, our first stop. Kirtan was like all other Elven cities with the houses built in trees, and Elves everywhere. The city was also home to my mother, Adurna. Arya, Freohr, and I stayed with her.

"Mother," I greeted her when I saw her.

"Aiedail, my daughter. And my Queen, Arya. What brings the two of you here?"

"I no longer hold that title, Adurna. We are here as a stop on our long journey to find our fellow rider. May we stay here for the night?"

As Arya spoke with my mother, I pulled Freohr out of his pouch on the saddle. My mother gasped when she saw him.

"Is that...?" she asked.

"Yes, Mother, this is my dragon, Freohr. He hatched a week ago."

Freohr launched himself out of my arms and ran over to my mother. He jumped around very hyper after being cooped up in the bag. My mother laughed.

"A little hyper are we?" she laughed .

"Sorry about that. This is the first he's been able to run around," I apologized.

"Do not worry, my daughter. I know how younglings are. Your father was a rider like yourself. I remember when his dragon was this small. Such a hyper little thing he was. Fyrn. Yes that was his name. A blood red dragon he was."

"My father was a rider!? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I couldn't. He didn't want you to know till you were ready. I figured being a rider yourself granted you as ready."

I didn't know what to say to that, so I just nodded and entered my childhood home. The house was the same as I remembered it, devoid of character. My mother always felt that personalization was a waste of time and effort, so the house was always kept tidy and plain. It wasn't difficult to find my old room which held two beds. One bed for me, and one for my late twin brother Fäolin. Next to Fäolin's bed was a small table big enough for me to build a bed for Freohr on, so I decided I would take his bed in order to be close to my dragon. It also would not have been fair to Arya to ask her to sleep in the bed once occupied by the man she once loved. Yes, she loved Eragon now, but it would still be an open wound.

Okay, so I made this chapter as long as my mind would let me. By the way, this story takes place over eight months after the end of Inheritance, and I have a plan that will be revealed to you in the next chapter that I had hoped to be able to do, and after skimming the end of Inheritance, I realized it could work, so I hope you like it.

YAY ARYAGON!
