It's been a week since I saw Batman or Bruce, whatever you want to call him.
Luckily Tom knows nothing about it, so everything is exactly the same.
I help him in the pawn shop, then I work on some more of the GCPD's cases, and then after the week is done I've earned about $8,200.
The eight thousand is obviously from the GCPD, but Tom still insists on paying me. I tried to give him another the other half of my payment, but he'll only except $1,000. And that's because I pushed it.
Now you're probably asking what I'm going to do with the $11,200 I have.Well I'm going to give it to my mom. So she can finally leave that hellhole. I know by now he's probably hurt her, and it makes me sick to my stomach. But I am going back. I made a promise before I left, and I intend to fulfill that promise.
So as Tom and I ate homemade pizza, and yes I said HOMEMADE! I swear Tom makes the best pizza I've ever taste. I swear he is a genius-
But getting back to the point....
As we ate I spoke up first. I think Tom senses somethings up though because usually our dinner is full of laughter and jokes. So since most of this dinner has been silent... I think he gets something is wrong.
"I have to go back."
I blurted once I got the courage to.Tom looked up and smiled at me.
"No."I looked up from my pizza with a scoff.
"What do you in mean no? You don't even know what I'm talking about."Tom gave me the "are you serious" expression, and I nodded.
"Alright fine you're right but still."He sighed.
"You better have one hell of a reason why."
Tom said before taking another bite of his fabulous pizza."My mom."
I said bluntly looking straight at him.Tom nodded his head as he sucked something off his teeth.
"Okay."Both of my eyebrows raised immediately.
"Really? No telling me this is stupid? Or that it could be dangerous?"Tom scoffed as he shook his head.
"Nope. You gave me a good reason, and last time I checked we are on level ground."
I tilted my head at him which made him laugh."Just because I call you kid doesn't mean I think of you as one. You are way to damn smart and responsible to be a kid. I have always seen you as a grown up. Especially sense you insist on me treating you like one."
Tom ranted on sometimes flaying his hands around a bit.I laughed at his last statement. I mean he's not wrong. I hate being treated like a child. If you haven't noticed my childhood is gone.
Wrecked.
Obliterated.
Gone.I could go on.
There's nothing anyone can do about that, so I move forward.
"So when are you going?"
"Tonight."
I said biting my lip afterwards.Yeah... all I got after that was Tom's resting bitch face.
"Please don't kill me."
I said jokingly.Tom sighed.
"I don't have time for that."
Tom stood up with his plate and went to the sink.
"You're not going right now are you?""No."
"Well why are you just sitting there! Help me with the dishes!"
I quickly got up with a huge smile on my face and brought my dish over to the sink.
