Nana's POV

"Blissfully playing in the snow,
but even the happiest
moments can contain
despair"

I sat at my window. The snow was layering the outside world. I watched as each individual snow flake landed gracefully into their positions, waiting to eventually melt away due to the heat from the sun.

My younger sisters ran in and out of my room, playing. I would play with them, but, all I want to do is enjoy the snow.

We were new to this neighbourhood, I was curious about our neighbours. Three boys lived across the road from us, and a girl lived next door. They were all human, so I was hesitant to ask them if i could join in on their fun.

I sighed, closing my eyes as I lay my head down upon my arms, which were resting on the window sill; Two of the three boys from across the road had came out of the house and were playing in the snow, then eventually the girl came out of her house and laughed with them.

My heart ached, I was yearning to be out there with them. I felt a presence behind me, and felt a hand on my shoulder. Someone handed me a winter hat with holes in for my ears, and fluffy gloves in the shapes of cat paws. I glanced up to see my mother, her white, silky hair seemed to get in the way of her face as she constantly kept moving a strand behind her ear.

"Go Nana, there's no need to be afraid darling. I'm sure they'll be thrilled to play with you." She smiled sweetly at me. I smiled at her comment.

My legs started moving without my consent, i was already wearing a warm jumper so I left my coat. On my way down the winding staircase I put on my hat and gloves.

I was quite small for my age. You'd imagine that at 6 i'd be able to reach the door handle.

Before I knew it I was standing on the front porch, watching as the children before me ran around, laughing and wailing in bliss. I closed the door behind me and slowly approached, concealing myself behind the tree in our front garden until one of them noticed me.

The girl with jet black hair had spotted me. She alerted the boys as I peeked my head from behind the tree. She made her way towards me.

"Play??" She enquired. Tilting her head in sync with her words. I nodded in response. The girl smiled widely and took my hand. "My name's Aphmau! What's your nam-.. Oooo!" She trailed off, she was touching the ears on my head. I blushed with embarrassment.

"Uuhm.. M-My name's Nana.. Do you like my ears..?" I figured asking a question would make me feel less embarrassed, and to my surprise it worked.

"Yeah!! They're super soft and FLUFFY!!" She squealed in excitement, a giggle following her statement straight after. I laughed with her.

The two younger boys cautiously approached, one obviously more than the other, he hid behind his older brother. Was it from nervousness? Was he just shy? Or was I scaring him?

"Hello!" The blonde haired boy stumbled up to me, taking both of my hands and shaking them. I was practically bouncing up and down from his pure strength.

I looked up and around, as i was clearly a lot smaller than the rest of the children. My mother had previously explained to me how Mei'fwa children are a lot smaller than Human children, and that Werewolf children grew very quickly.
