"Do I want to what?" You ask, utterly flabbergasted. I heard him wrong. Right? Right?
"Do you want to pretend to go out with me?" Akaashi shrugs, attempting to act casual despite the blush dusting his pale cheeks. "It seems as though both of our problems would be gone if we had significant others, yet neither of us want them."
Your eyebrows knit together in the thought that someone as brilliant as him could come up with such an idea. "Akaashi, are you being serious?"
He purses his lips together and sighs, "I am."
"I get that our problems would be solved by having relationships, but fake dating seems a bit-" You pause, attempting to come up with a word that would describe.
"Farcical?" He suggests.
"Exactly," You breathe out, "Akaashi, I'm sorry but, pretending to date you would cause more trouble than good. If anyone ever found out, it would be disastrous and embarrassing and fuck."
He nods his head slowly, "I understand, but do me a favor and don't tell anyone about this. That would cause me more trouble than good."
A small smile spreads across your face, "I promise, I won't."
Giving you a small bow and wave, Akaashi walks away towards the gym with his head hung low.
After giving yourself a few minutes to process what your middle school friend had just asked you to do, you take your leave as well.

You purse your lips and repeatedly click your pen. It was the last period and thankfully you had gone the entire day while without an annoying boy attempting to pursue you. But, despite this, you couldn't help but have Akaashi's words repeatedly mull over in your mind. He was right, after all, pretending to date would solve both of your problems. But how could you even be contemplating such a silly idea?
Of course, you already knew the answer to that. If it had been anyone else, you would have laughed in their face, chalking it up to it all being a bet or some twisted way to get in your pants. But, Akaashi was different. He was meticulous and thoughtful, completely contrasting nearly every other boy you had come in contact with. But you had to admit that his attractive features and blunt yet charming personality weren't exactly turning you off from the idea.
You shake your head, attempting to literally shake the idea from your mind and refocus your attention onto your class.
