it was only after she'd vanished i'd realized her insanity. and yet i would still burn my soul to have her back. I remember this time when we'd layer upon my bed looking up at my dry ceiling she'd murmured, "nothing hurts anymore." i'd asked her what she meant and her reply was that she felt free. the next day i came home to see her with a burnt wound on her hand. i was too worried and preoccupied to notice the bright smile on her face and the dull look in her eyes.the last thing she left behind was a note engraved by a red pen with the words: i put my hand on the stove to see if i still bled.
before I even knew it she was gone. and if anything, she was the one that taught me that when nothing hurts anymore it truly is when you're free. and that burning your hand on the stove means that pain has become a distant feeling.
it's as if you can't live without pain because than everything has the power to make you crack.
and when everything has the power to make you crack nothing is important anymore.
