First Chapter. His Return
Florence
Psalm 112:5
"Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice."I read one of the verses in the page I randomly open and try to understand it. Giving it more thought, I like the verse. I head to the counter where my two friends are.
"It's always the first line that's the hardest," I heard one of them complain, surely Shannon. "I mean, isang linggo lang ang Semester Break tapos bibigyan niya pa tayo ng homework?" she groan and crossed her arms. "It's like she forgot what Semester Break is about."
"And what is Semester Break's all about, Shan?" tanong ni Kiara, already knowing what Shan would answer.
"Kia, it's about having fun. Like, taking a break, bonding with the girls, making more memories." minuwestra niya ang kamay niya sa computer na malapit lang sa tabi ng counter. "Not writing a ten-page paper with a partner."
"Well, I heard Kia and Lilian are done with theirs already, totoo ba?" I ask and join in the conversation.
"Malamang, matatalino yan eh," she countered, facing me. "It's not like one of the most promising student would have a problem doing this stuff." even if her excuse is not excusable for forcing Kia to help her with the first page, tama siya. While Kiara is really one of the most brilliant students in our Campus.
"Plus, you're not doing me any favor. Akala ko matatapos natin ito agad given na matalino ka rin. But instead you just roam around the Library." patuloy na reklamo niya. Nakalimutan niya ba? That we decide to divide the homework into two and I get to do the last parts? I rolled my eyes and just focus on Kia.
"Would you mind if I borrow this?" I leaned at the counter and held the Bible so she can take a look of it.
Ngumiti si Kia at umiling. Shannon groan in frustration, probably cursing our professor by now. "Well, you two could really use a break. Might as well invite you guys to the Grand Festive Fest. At baka ipakilala ko din kayo sa bisita namin!" she happily exclaimed.
"Finally, the Sembreak I deserve!" Shan said and join Kia's happy cheering.
"Sinabi mo 'bang The Grand Festive Fest?" I asked stopping their little cheering. Tumango siya and I gave a confused look.
Why, The Grand Festive Fest is one of the most exclusive and high class party in our City. How on earth did she get tickets? They cost a fortune! And that's just one! How did she get three?
"My guest has some special connections at nagawa niyang isama ako sa Festival. I already invited Lilian 'cause we're done with our work. I was going to invite you two when you're already done with yours too." she quickly assist someone at the other side of the counter. Oh, so lima kaming magkikita kita sa Festival.
But I wonder who that guest is she referring to. Perhaps, someone I'm familiar with in name or face? But I'm sure mayaman siya, she can afford buying five tickets!
