The life of Royalty

Chapter 11 : Alden

Mother is on a trip, father is increasingly busy and Shalom is going through the exact same thing as I am except that he is handling it better. Father is so busy because he wanted us to have a smaller work load so we could focus on the selection, so he took on some of our duties. I wish he wouldn't have though, I would have had a plausible escape then.

I can't seem to figure out how to balance everything, the little work I do have gives me plenty of time to finish it and my workout before lunch, leaving the rest of the day for free time or time to spend with some of the girls. I have only been alone with them a few times each and some of them it is getting easier others it seems that it is just more awkward.

I have seen Marissa 3 times and Isabella 3 times all the others who are here this week twice. I do know that i favor those two.

Shalom and I picked Odelia, Isabella, Felicity, and Marissa to stay this week along with the regular rotation, there are 17 girls here right now. I know that Tally and mother would love it, they were always complaining about the lack of girls. Father used to tease mother that there was a very simple way to try and remedy that, though we never quite knew what he meant. Mother would often invite our aunts May, Kenna, and Marlee. They would bring Astra and Kyle, to play with me and Shalom and Tally, while they talked. Occasionally Kriss and Elise would join them but not often as it was never really totally comfortable between father and them.

Tonight on the Report the girls will be interviewed about their first week here. Father will give the normal speech on the countries status, and we will talk about our experiences this week. i am not excited to be asked about my dates.

Later on the Report.

"Lady Marissa what can you tell us about our princes?" asks the always cheery Gavril.

" Well Gavril they both seem very kind and surprisingly relate able. I especially enjoy the company of Prince Alden right after lunch. He seems to be easier to talk to after his morning routine." She answers brightly.

"Thank you Lady Marissa, How about you Lady Felicity?"

"Oh, well I quite enjoy walking through the castle with Prince Shalom, he and I share some favorite books. But my time with Prince Alden was enjoyable as well we went horseback riding." She remarks politely, finishing with a smile.

Gavril moves down the line all the girls give vague details about our time together. Shalom expresses his enjoyment and I follow. Father explains the absence of Mother then goes into his speech. It ends and the cameras are turned off the girls file out back to there rooms. Shalom walks up,

" So Alden would you like to arrange our first double date?" He asks a slight twinge of hope in his voice.

" Um, sure. Who were you thinking on taking?"

Oh yes, Good. I was thinking about Odelia."

" Okay that should be fine I will ask Isabella to go." I say expecting this to be the end of the conversation and starting to turn to walk out, when he grabs my arm.

"Alden?" Shalom asks sounding upset.

"Shalom what's wrong?" I ask surprised

" Well doesn't this all make you a bit uneasy? I mean I wish Father hadn't taken so much of our work load, all this free time is driving me insane."

" You too huh? I was just thinking that actually. Maybe we could ask him for some of it back."

"Sounds Great to me, we can have the girls plan out the date, make it like one of their projects, I will talk to Sylvia about it in the morning" He says acting like himself again.

" Okay sounds good I can ask Father about the work load tomorrow in the gym he normally gets in there about the same time as me on Saturdays. We do an all around together." He smiles and nods then walks out."

I walk back to my room and pass out on the bed.
