This will be a bit shorter if a chapter but eh let's talk about mermaids. So we all now mermaids as half human half fish but they are much more than that there are winged mermaids and sirens and sea dragons. So many other amazing types of mermaids now there are different ways of becoming a mermaid but the main one is shifting now shifting is a very painful and long process and before you even start truly shifting a tail you have to figure out all the details first this goes for subs too since in mermaid subs you would usually see "get your desired tail".
You should at least have an idea of what that will look like and it's not just the tail you have to worry about there are many other components as well like enlarged lungs or gills or maybe what type of fins you want to have and even what type of environment like for instance some people what to be arctic mers while others want to be tropical. So there are many things that you have to take into consideration before even thinking about shifting a tail. Hope you learned something!
