With things cooled down I was able to focus more on hanging out with Mercer and we went on more dates. On Owen's end he eventually found out that E.J was Mercer's dad but he went for it anyway. He really had guts. E.J was completely against it at first, but eventually he gave in and the two got together. It was extremely weird for Mercer, but he got used to it after a while.
He was more focused on things with me anyhow and we continued to date. It wasn't long before we were due to graduate and enter the next grade. On one particular day we were sitting on the rooftop together. The previous night, I realized that I hadn't properly nor truthfully confessed my feelings to Mercer and I planned to do it today.
"Hey Mercer." I said, placing my hands in his..
"Yeah what's up?" He kissed my cheek.
"I like you..." I said honestly.
"I know you told me the day we met." he laughed.
"Yes, but back then it was so sudden and not romantic at all. I was also scared out of my mind then." I gave him the food I'd made and packed in a cute box.
"This is?" he wondered.
"I made you lunch myself to show that I like you." I said.
"That's a bit disappointing." he laughed.
"Oh...I thought it might have been a lame idea." I said, feeling hurt.
"Because I don't just like you anymore Noel...I love you." he kissed me.
"I do too..Mercer." I said hugging him tightly when we pulled away.
I was so happy, we'd confessed to each other for real this time...I really did like him so much.
Guess, it wasn't so bad being his fake boyfriend, but now I could start being a real one.
