The Only Way Out (A modern Clato fanfic)

Chapter 10

Audition day

*Cloves POV*

"So will you do stage crew with me?" I ask Cato. "Well...... Yeah ok I guess so." He tells me. I hug him. "Thank yoooooou!" I say. "Yeah, now shut it. I wanna watch the auditions." He says,plopping down into his seat. I told him he couldn't go watch the auditions until he signed up for stage crew with me. Long story short, we don't have to go to social studies for the next month or two.

"Ok." Says Cinna. He's been the music and drama teacher since like, forever. He's a pretty chill dude, so we just call him Cinna. Some kids call him Mr.Cinnabun, but he doesn't mind.

"So, first up is Glimmer." He says. She trots onto the stage in her hot pink crop top and matching heels. I almost throw up in my mouth. "Whenever your ready." Cinna tells her. I look across the aisle where I see Katniss, Peeta and Jo sitting. They quietly make their way over to us. "Hey." Kat says as she sits down next to Peeta. Jo sits next to me. "How's it going?" She whispers. "Fine, now shut it, I wanna hear Barbie fuck up her audition." I tell her, turning back to the stage.

She starts to sing.

"Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has everything?" She sings. She sounds like a racoon choking on the remains of a dead bird.
"Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Lookin' around here you'd think
Sure she's got everything
I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs?
I got twenty
But who cares?

I want to be where the people are

Warm on the sand?

Part of that world." She finishes, and bows. By the end, she sounded like a moaning moose, choking on the remains of the racoon that choked to death on the bird.

Cinna claps. "Thank you Glimmer, ok next we have, Cashmere."

She walks onto stage in a less blinding outfit. A white cropped hoodie, and black flats. I assumed Glimmer wouldn't let Cashmere out without wearing any pink, but I was wrong.

She starts to sing "poor unfortunate souls" and it doesn't sound to bad. I think she might actually get the part.

After what seems like no time at all, she finishes the song. "Thank you Cashmere, that was lovely." Cinna tells her.

"Gloss, you're up next." Cinna says.

He starts to sing, "kiss the girl" which is normally sung by Sebastian, but Prince Eric doesn't sing anything in the movie. You'd think we'd go from the broadway version, when Eric actually sings, but no.

He sounds ok. I assume Finnick will do better though.

Next up is Brutus. To my surprise, he is trying out for Sebastian. I thought he was gonna try for Eric.

He starts to sing "under the sea" and I hum along, just loud enough so everyone in my row can hear me. I start to do a little dance, and Cato shakes his head. "What?" I whisper. "Am I, embarrassing you?" I continue, while doing another dance. "Well yeah a little, but you know what they say. If you can't beat em, join em.' He wishers back, following my moves. I chuckle and stop dancing. My arms hurt. Brutus finishes, and is almost guaranteed the part.

Finnick sings "kiss the girl" and fricken slayed. He hit every note perfectly. And then there was Annie. She was absolutely perfect. She hit all the notes, and even added in a few movements that made her performance stand out.

The rest of the auditions go by in a blur. Enobaria auditioned for flounder, and a butt load of other kids auditioned. Prim and Rue tried out for Ursula's eels that always spy on Ariel, and it was hilarious. They were the only two that auditioned, so they automatically got the part, but of course, two eels aren't enough, so they also have to be extras.

Once the auditions are finished, I stand by the entrance with Cato, and wait for the others. "Hey Clover, can I ask you a question?" Cato asks me. "Yeah, sure." I reply.

"Will you help me ask out Glimmer?"

Sup betches. How'd ya like this chapter? So, I didn't copy and paste "part of your world". My little sister is obsessed with that movie, so I wrote it down by heart. If there are any mistakes, please let me know, and I'll fix it.
