"All I'm saying is she didn't have to leave like that"
"and all I'm saying is it's none of your business!" Jimin spat back at Taehyung, Tae's expression fixed and cold.
Sejin stood across the room hearing them argue over your departure, Taehyung angry at how you hurt his hyung, Jimin angry too, but trying desperately to understand your side. Jungkook was lying on a sofa in the dressing room waiting for his turn for hair and makeup before they went on.
The tension in the room was rising as everyone took on the news of your departure. You were like family to them. You had been there with Hoseok through their rise to super stardom. They were already well on that track, but the last three years had made them global stars.
They worked so hard to get to the top that it left little to no time for personal matters. Vacations were a thing of the past.
You always respected their grind, and though at the beginning of your relationship with Hoseok you rarely saw him, you'd have little video chats between his schedule. When he finally asked you last year to come on tour with them this year you jumped at the opportunity to be closer to him. You didn't realize then what it meant giving up.
"I think she must have had a good reason, but still, to leave like she did... poor Hobi-hyung" Jungkook finally spoke.
Taehyung shot a look at Jungkook "what good reason is there for hurting someone? There's no excuse for it. She's a coward. I knew I never liked her." He muttered barely audibly.
The others fixed their stares on him and Jungkook spoke first "oh please, every time she was around it was 'Sunny this, Sunny that' You loved her like the rest of us and you know it."
Tae shifted in his seat "you're one to talk! Every time she was round you would be vying for her attention! Sunny! Sunny! Come watch me play overwatch! Sunny listen to this song cover!' you were like her little puppy in the palm of her hand."
Jungkook began to argue back but as soon as he opened his mouth his voice was lost to the shout through the dressing room.
"Enough!" Sejin cut in, sitting by Jin noticing his expression growing angrier by the second "Everyone is hurting right now, but none more than Hoseok. You all need to respect him enough to keep quiet until things blow over."
Jin looked up in the mirror, looking back at Tae with a hard stare. Tae noticed and swallowed down his argument. Jin finally spoke up "when he comes in I expect none of you will utter a word of this to Hoseok. He's been through enough don't you think?"
The maknaes stood back and nodded "Yes, Jin-hyung" before dispersing throughout the room.
The door to the dressing room opened as Jimin went and sat on the sofa and Jungkook took his spot in front of the mirror. They all looked up to see Yoongi and Hoseok enter the dressing room, Yoongi's hand resting on his Hope's shoulder.
Yoongi glanced around the room making eye contact with all of them, a warning behind his eyes. Hobi went to sit beside Jin and the stylists started buzzing around him, taking extra care to conceal his tired, swollen red eyes.
Yoongi took a seat beside Jimin, waiting for his turn. Jimin leaned over to whisper to Yoongi "how's he holding up?" Yoongi's only response was shaking his head. Jimin lowered his head and squeezed the bridge of his nose between his brow. It was bad, it was irreparable, and they all knew this hurt would lead Hoseok down a dark hole of depression. Their hope, their brother with the impossibly bright smile, was in immeasurable pain, and there was nothing they could do about it.
The room was silent for a while except the buzzing of the stylists and managers as they got the men ready for their performance. A while later the door opened again and Namjoon walked in, he looked up through the mirror at Yoongi who was now sitting where Hoseok had been before. He gave him a sad expression and shook his head.
You were gone, he had tried to keep you here, he had tried to bring you back, but you were gone.
Hoseok looked up from the couch, sadness still in his eyes, thick makeup covering the redness that had been there just an hour before. The makeup barely masked the puffiness of his face though. He looked dazzling as always, but nothing could truly mask the pain he was in.
"Hey hyung." Namjoon spoke to him as he crossed over to the sofa, he wondered if Hobi could hear the guilt in his voice, the way he was holding in the secrets of the last few hours.
"Hey" he responded back flatly. Namjoon reached over placing his hand on his back "let's just get through the last of this schedule and then we can go back home." Namjoon tried his best to help Hobi be strong through it, but he knew he was ready to fall apart again at any moment.
"Yeah" Hoseok replied, trying to hold it in as best as he could. He knew when he got on stage he could put on the persona and that's all he could think about right now. He needed to be J-Hope for Army, not Jung Hoseok, the broken man for his Sunny.
Namjoon got up to join the hair and makeup team in Yoongi's place, sitting in front of the mirror, never taking his eyes off of Hoseok as Yoongi sat beside him on the sofa. The maknaes were all crowded around the food buffet enjoying various snacks and talking quietly amongst themselves. Seokjin approached Yoongi and Hobi sitting on the sofa. He squatted down to meet Hobi at eye level and pulled his chin up to look him in the eyes. "One more show, one more for Army and we're home free, do it for them."
Hobi plastered a smile on his face and nodded "for Army."
Namjoon's voice overtook the room as the boys gathered together "Today has been harder than it should be, but on our hardest days we have to remember we're a team. We carry each other, right?" the boys all nodded quietly, Jimin clutching on to Hoseok, rubbing his back and soothing him "so we're going to go out there and kill it like we always do, right?"
Jin spoke up first "Bangtan"
Yoongi echoed Jin "Bangtan"
The rest of the boys joined in chorus as their hands gathered in the center between them "Bang-Bangtan"
