Metal twisted against my skin as I fiddled with the gold ring that sat on my index finger. Sitting on the Doctor's leather pilot seat, I shifted, watching as my friend silently fiddled with colorful levers and knobs that dotted TARDIS console. I guess the Doctor was my friend, but the thought made me clench the ring he gifted me that much tighter.
He had been acting strangely ever since I woke up, going so far as to send Rory and Amy on vacation to 'spend more time with me'. Frankly, I didn't understand his reasoning, and I still don't. Plus, his idea of spending time with me was sulking around the console while I sat and thought about how much I miss my old life. Finally, I had enough.
"When are you going to talk to me?"
The Doctor's head shot up, he stiffened, and turned his attention back to the bright red lever he was tinkering with. "Are you not having fun?" He asked softly, slouching dejectedly.
I pursed my lips, "It's just- when you sent Amy and Rory away I thought we were going to, I dunno, have our own adventures." Saying it out loud, I realized how childish I sounded. The Doctor was not my personal taxi across the universe. In fact, I was just lucky to be with him at all.
"Do you know how many rooms the TARDIS has?" The Doctor prompted, glancing up at me. I shrugged, an ashamed blush creeping up my neck. "Infinite," he said with a mischievous grin slowly stretching across his face, "we've got forests, jungles, a library, a swimming pool, probably an ocean somewhere around here..."
Sitting back in my seat, I regarded him warily, waiting for him to make his point.
Flashing me a smile, he bounced around the console to stand in front of me, "we can have our own adventure, right here, right now."
Something was off, I had that gut feeling that he was hiding something. But his stupid grin on his stupid face, and the way he was so excited after being quiet for days, made me push my thoughts to the side and grab his hand, letting him pull me into the depths of the TARDIS.

A salty breeze blew through my hair, I gazed out past the rocky cliff I was sitting on and towards the blueish-green sea. Sea foam flew into the air as harsh waves bludgeoned the rocks below.
"Do you like it?"
I turned away from the ocean, towards the Doctor. "It's beautiful."
We had a picnic blanket laid on the mossy grass with a full-to-the-brim wicker basket sitting on it, I moved over to the blanket and plopped down on it. Usually sitting on the ground was uncomfortable, but the blanket must have been made out of alien cloth because it felt like I was perched on a cloud. The Doctor joined me, and popped open the basket, pulling out a bag full of grapes and crunching on them merrily.
"We should go somewhere in history," I mused, popping a grape into my mouth, "go see Jane Austen or something."
The Doctor stiffened slightly, most people wouldn't have noticed the shift, but I did. "Or we could read Jane Austen, in the Library."
I narrowed my eyes, "we could meet cleopatra."
"Already met her, I owe her a few snakes, best not to tempt fate."
"Okay," I pursed my lips, "well what about DaVinci? I do love art."
"Oh that-that- that would not be good," the Doctor adjusted his bowtie nervously, "wouldn't want him to model yet another statue after me."
"Winston Churchill?"
"He's so busy, Lily."
"Hozier?"
"Concerts aren't really my thing."
I rolled my eyes, "cut the crap, what's really going on?"
He frowned, "what?"
"Oh come on, Doctor," he couldn't really think I was this daft, could he? "You haven't let me out of the TARDIS for days, you've been acting strange since-" I stopped, remembering what had happened only a few weeks ago. The elephant in the room had just grown a little bigger.
The Doctor sighed and fiddled with his hands, avoiding my gaze. "Do you think I like this?" He muttered, jaw clenched, "I'm trying to protect you."
"From what?" My face was flush with anger, the wind had picked up around us, and the grey sky darkened, "I'm not a child, Doctor."
"I don't know what you are."
At those words, my blood ran cold. He didn't trust me, that much was clear. I had nearly died in his arms and he didn't trust me. But that was the exact reason he didn't trust me, I nearly died. Then I regenerated, but nothing about me changed. Same hair, same teeth, same everything. I wondered if he even saw me as a friend anymore. And suddenly I was speaking without thinking, each word traveling through the air icily.
"Then take me home. Just take me back to my house, take my stupid fucking watch, and leave me alone," hot tears of indignation pricked at my eyes, "I never even wanted to be here, and you clearly don't want me here, so take me back."
The Doctor's face fell, his lips drawn into a straight line. Wordlessly, he stood up, and walked back into the TARDIS corridor. Leaving me alone with my anger, tears falling on my cheeks and mixing with the rain that had started to drizzle down.
A/N: Hey! It's been awhile. Quarantine took a toll on me. I had to finish school online, I haven't seen my friends since March, and I'm currently going through a break-up. Now I have college apps to worry about, so my update schedule might get really inconsistent starting in September (as if it wasn't already lol). Thanks as always for your support! I have big things planned for the sequel, so just stick with it and things will get spicy in a few chapters :)
