Everything was still black, but I could hear a high pitched beep – beep noise, probably from some sort of a machine, getting louder and louder. I was drenched with sweat.I tried to open my eyes, but it was too bright. I squinted, and saw a blurry jelly like blob looming over me, slowly getting into a human like shape.
“You’re finally awake. Can you hear me?” asked a sleepy but concerned voice. I tried to answer, but my lips were too exhausted to part.
“You fainted all of a sudden. Doctor says it’s because of weakness and mainly stress. I told you to eat something back then…won’t you ever listen? I’m gonna stay here until you’re better enough to talk. Try to get some rest. I’m going to the roof to smoke.”
I stared as he walked away and closed the door as quietly as he could. I wanted to stop him, but my body didn’t respond to me, neither was my voice strong enough to be audible. The click of the door made my body freeze with an unknown fear. I was left all alone.
I concentrated on the features of the room just to try and forget the fact that I’m all alone, but my brain insisted to constantly remind me YOU’RE ALONE JIHOON YOU'RE ALONE no matter what.
The cream colour walls and the warm yellow light made the room look cozy. In my left corner, there was a navy blue couch with two fat cushions, making me doubt the fact if they have any cotton inside them, a simple black – leathered chair and a small brown coffee table. The door was on my right. A bag of saline water hung over me on my right and the machine on my left was there probably to check my heart rate. I breathed quickly to make it beep quickly and hold my breath to make it slow down…just for fun.
A loud BOM made me turn my head to the window with a jerk and, for a moment, I blacked out. When my vision was clear enough, I realized that it was just the thunder. The wind aggressively shook the window panes, with a combined force of rain. The branches of the bare tree rocked violently.
“You want me to notice your existence so bad, rain?” I whispered.
There was a clock right on the wall facing me, forcing me to stare at it. It showed 10 minutes to 11:00. My lips were as dry as a winter leaf. I licked it, and it tasted like iron. Blood.
“Do not worry, young man, your family would be fine! Now if you would let me treat your wounds-"
“Fine? FINE?!” I scream with frustration, trembling.
“How can they be FINE? They are literally chunks of meat now! Their faces are deformed! I’m the only one alright! Sora! Let me go to them!”
My mouth tastes like iron. I keep screaming until a nurse grabs my arm, stabs a syringe, and I black out.
I closed my eyes tight, trying to stop the flashbacks.
If only my brain had a pause button…
I gazed at the silver knob on the door blankly, eagerly waiting for it to turn and Kai to enter.
