While Adam had gone outside to give the bearcub some fresh air, I was still upstairs looking for Cindy. I had the weirdest feeling something was terribly wrong with the place and I really wanted to get the hell out of this creepy old house.
"Cindy!!.... Ciiiiiiiindiiieeeee....!" I had been at it for several... minutes. I wish I could say hours but to my defence, it really was spooky as hell in there. And no matter how many times I called for her, there was no answer. Where the fuck was she? I stepped inside one of the smaller bedrooms. It was a mess like the rest of the house, trashed furniture and clothes everywhere. "Cindy?" I peered around the room, but there was no trace of her. So I decided to join Adam and discuss our next move. The sun felt annoyingly bright as I stepped outside and I shielded my eyes with my arm. "No sign of her." I muttered as Adam looked up at me.
"All right, let's look around out here."
"Are you sure? What if Papa bear returns?" I asked with just a tiny hint of panic in my voice.
"Then we'll explain how we saved his little boy."
Theoretically that sounded like a great plan, but life was never that easy. In my head I saw the scenario of a big brown bear in full attack mode with long claws and sharp teeth pointed at us. But who knew, maybe Adam was right this time. I truly hoped he was.
We split up and started to walk around the house to look for clues. It wasn't like Cindy to suddenly disappear and I actually started to worry about her.
Grass, fallen branches, withered bushes and all in all an overgrown garden. That was all I found and I was just about to head back when I heard Adam shouting from the other side of the old wooden fence.
"Charming! ... Help!"
Help??! What the hell?? My heart started racing inside my chest. Papa bear was attacking! I knew it! Why else would Adam need me? I ran, the fastest I've ever run in my life! He never ever asked me for... I stopped in my tracks and facepalmed myself.
"Your foot's stuck in a rabbit hole?"
"It is,"he snickered as he sat there in the grass and looked up at me, "give me a hand?"
I sighed and stretched out my arm to help him get up on his feet. It was easy enough and he was standing next to me in no time. "You okay?"
"Yeah," he responded a bit absentmindedly, "where's the baby?"
"The bear?"
"No, the gnome?"
"Ha ha, funny."
"It was right here!"
I spun around frantically searching for it but it was nowhere to be seen. That's when we heard it, gentle cries emerging from the rabbit hole in the ground. The both of us fell to our knees and put our ears above it.
"It's him!"
"He fell down? But it's so small and he was so... fluffy."
Adam looked up at me and shrugged, "it's him."
That's when I realised the dirt around the hole started to move and I could feel my limbs slowly sinking deeper into the ground. "Quicksand!"
"Fuck!! Don't move C!"
".... to late..." I could feel my body sinking deeper and deeper to the point where I raised my head to take a final breath of air before I vanished.
"Hang in there C, I'll get you out!"
I closed my eyes, patiently waiting for my love to rescue me and trying my best not to panic. Weirdly enough my feet felt strangely free. As if they were dangling in the open. A hand grabbed on to mine and a strong arm tried to pull me up. But it was all in vain.
We both sank through the sand...
deeper and deeper..

I slowly opened my eyes and realised we both were very much alive. Falling free down that rabbit hole. I looked up at Adam, he was so beautiful. I smiled bitterly knowing this was the end. No one would survive a fall like this. I felt dizzy, and somehow determined. It was now or never, he needed to know and I opened my mouth and shouted through the heavy wind.
"Adam!"
His eyes met mine, "yes?"
I made a few swimming motions in the air in a failed attempt to move closer to him. Fuck this, I thought before I screamed, "I love you!!"
He raised an eyebrow and smiled a little, even though the air made his skin stretch on his face, I clearly noticed the smile. "I love you too C."
I sighed, he didn't understand."I mean; I LOVE you!"
He tilted his head to the side and reached out his hand, grabbed my arm and pulled me closer with a raised eyebrow, "what do you mean?"
"I mean, I don't want to marry a girl, I don't even like girls.I like ... you."
And that's when we hit the ground. It felt like all the air inside my body was pressed out of me in one single motion. Gasping for breath I sat up in shock. We were alive. We had fallen for minutes and minutes only to land on the dirt ground of the deepest fucking hole I've ever seen.
And with panic in my heart I knew I'd rather meet Papa bear then the fucking monster rabbit who dug this bloody hole.
I moaned in pain as I pulled myself up to strand on my shaking legs and gently brushed the dirt off my clothes. Taking a look around I noticed a door in the wall and a table. And as I walked closer to the table I noticed a delicate pink teacup with steaming hot tea labelled Drink me, and beside it on a decorated plate lay a single cookie.
"Look, there's a note."
I peered over Adam's shoulder and read it out loud. "Eat me." I sighed deeply, "where the hell are we?"
