Surprised to hear that voice, he turns around to find his professor in tightfitting jeans and a loose, white dress shirt that's half tucked in, sunglasses hiding his eyes.

When he realizes that the girl that is playing with his son is his professor's daughter, he almost chokes on his own spit. He didn't even know that Professor Suppasit had a kid. He's only 30 after all and he's had time to do his PhD

"Professor?" he calls him in disbelief. "Is that you?"

He puts down the hood of his sweater, although he regrets it right away.

Why is he even approaching him? He didn't want anyone from university knowing that he has a kid, yet it's him who made the professor look at him.

"Gulf!" he recognizes him. "Now this is a sight I definitely didn't expect."

He smiles and takes off his glasses and Gulf notes that his daughter has inherited his smile.

"I didn't know you had a daughter" Gulf tries to make small talk, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "She's really cute."

"Well, yeah, it's a little complicated to explain my private life to my students, so I usually don't mention it. Who are you here with?"

"Actually, the boy she's playing with."

"Really? What a coincidence!" his professor chuckles and it drives heat up to Gulf's cheeks. "Is he your nephew? What's his name? My daughter is called Aura."

There's his chance. He could lie and say Panit is the son of his non-existent sibling but he doesn't want to deny him. It would feel wrong.

"He's my son" he averts his eyes shyly, deciding to watch the two kids play.

"Wasn't careful once and now he's here. I really love him, though. I'm glad he's here. Sorry, if that was too personal."

"No, no, don't apologize. I'm just a little surprised to know you have a son. I––– well maybe I stereotyped you but––" Gulf's curious because he's never heard his professor stutter, so he turns his attention back to the smaller.

"You're handsome and girls your age surely come flying to you. I thought you were busy spending your time with girls but you're actually taking care of your family."

"Yeah, no. My free time goes into playing with him" he admits. "He is called Panit, by the way."

"So what's the scenario of that wild weekend I thought you had last week?" his professor wonders.

"I finger-painted with him and somehow, he managed to get the floor all dirty, so I had to clean all night" Gulf cringes. "Not my proudest moment. Although I fuck up a lot, I still try my best."

"Don't swear on a playground" the taller one giggles. "If the other adults hear you, they'll scold you."

"Oh shit, right--fuck, wait---I-wow, I'll just shut up now" Gulf bites his lip to keep himself from saying even more but what surprises him is the genuine, surprisingly deep laugh from his professor.

He's even more handsome in casual clothes and his hair tousled. He looks softer than usual and Gulf can't stop staring.

That's why he notices the missing wedding band on the elder's left ring finger. Confused, Gulf's eyes stay on his finger and he also realizes that there's no dent anymore as if the professor didn't wear it often.

"Professor, I don't want to be rude but I noticed you're not wearing your wedding ring. Do you think you might have lost it here?"

Taken aback, the elder touches the space, where it usually sits around his finger, smiling bittersweetly.

"I left it at home" he reveals, hesitating for a moment. "I only wear it at university to – well – I used to get a lot of advances from students, so I put it back on."

That revelation does things to Gulf's heart that it shouldn't do. It stumbles and flips, making him blush again.

There's no way that he'd have a chance anyway and it's also kind of forbidden since the taller man is his professor. Yet he can't stop his heart from beating away in his chest.
