Chapter 20: New life

Dawn's pov.

Standing behind Ryder is the little girl and I knew she was Phoenix. She looked so scared and so neglected. I didn't see any abuse but she was very skinny and it looked like she was living in the woods.

Walking up to Ryder I give him a kiss on the lips as he blushes. Smiling he moves out of the way as Phoenix stares up at me. Tears were falling from her eyes and I pull her into a hug as she wraps her arms around me and clings onto my body.

"Your safe now baby sister." I say as she looks up crying and I can see the loneliness in her eyes.

"Grandpa said you would come for me one day. He said that bad men will try to take me away but you won't let them." Phoenix says as I smile and nod my head as I lean down and pick her up ignoring the pain in my body.

"Hey babe do you want me to stay or head back home?" Ryder asks me as Phoenix buries her head in the crook of my neck.

"You head home okay we should be there in a week and then we can go on our date." I say as Ryder nods and kisses my cheek before getting into his car and driving back home.

Carrying Phoenix inside I see everyone gathered in the living room together talking quietly. Smiling I walk into the room and sit on the couch with Phoenix in my arms. She lifts her head up looking around at everyone and starts shaking.

"Honey nobody is going to hurt you here okay. I am Dawn's mom and your grandfather is my dad. You will be safe here I promise. You see all these men here well they are very strong and won't let anything happen to you." Mom says as she kneels in front of Phoenix and I smiling.

Phoenix turns on my lap watching mom as I hold my breathe hoping she accepts her. Watching silently Phoenix crawls out of my lap and into moms arms as she lays her head on mom's chest. Smiling I knew she will be okay, hoping grandfather knows what he is doing.

"What about the bad people?" I hear a small scratchy voice say as everyone looks down at Phoenix hugging mom.

"Well little one, like mom just said, we will not let anyone get to you. We ourselves are in a gang and we are very very powerful and will provide a lot of protection for you and Dawn." Dad says kneeling next to mom and I watch silently still.

"Are you gonna be my new mommy and daddy?" Phoenix says sitting on the couch next to me as mom and dad kneel in front of her.

"Would you want us to be?" Mom asks her as she look around the room looking everyone thinking about what to say.

"Yes. Do I get brothers too? Grandpa said when I come here I would get brothers to." Phoenix as smiling happily and holding onto her stuffed bunny.

"You have a lot of brothers and cousins now as well as another grandpa and multiple uncles." Dad says as he looks at me and winks causing me to smile.

Looking down at Phoenix she holds her tummy as it growls. Raising an eyebrow I turn to her as she has tears wanting to fall from her eyes. She was probably hungry and was to scared to say anything.

"I will go get you some food little one. Do you have any clothes with you?" Mom says as Phoenix shakes her head no looking down at her hands.

"Well you will by the end of the day. For now go with Dawn to take a shower and I will have one of the boys let you were their shirts." Dad says as he and mom stand up going into the kitchen together.

Standing up as Phoenix watches me and I hold out my hand to her as she takes it and stands up next to me. Smiling I guide her to the elevator waiting for the doors to open. Stepping inside the elevator with Phoenix as she keeps her head down holding onto her stuffed rabbit.
