2 - at the cafe

It has been a quiet day for Rose at her work. Not many customers, but these kinds of days are good once in a while as you have time to clean everything. Rose has wiped all the table surfaces and even the windows.

Rose could be called as a food lover. She is very interested in food and nutrition. That is why she has worked in this cafe for three years now. Her dream is to one day own her own cafe chain, a bakery or something like that. She wants it to branch out outside of Australia too.

Rose hums along to the song form the radio. WINNER is one of her favourite Korean groups and even though this cafe is in Australia, it is owned by Koreans, so it has a Korean vibe to it. Rose loves it as it makes her feel a bit of a connection to her parents' home country.

"Excuse me, could we order?", a very familiar voice reaches Rose's ears and she stops sweeping the floor. She raises her gaze and sees Jennie and Lisa at the desk. Rose walks there her head down.

"What would you like?", Rose asks professionally.

"May I have a milk tea boba?", Jennie asks.

"And for me a strawberry milk with a piece of your house's special cake, thank you.", Lisa finishes.

"Of course. I'll bring them to you soon."

Rose then turns around and hopes the two do not recognise her. She gets to making the drinks for them and cutting the piece of the cake. After a couple of minutes, she is ready, puts their order on a tray and walks to them.

"Here you are.", Rose says while giving them the drinks and the cake.

"Thank you.", Jennie says and smiles a little.

Lisa takes a look at Rose and knits her brows.

"Are you the girl from the beach party? Who helped Jennie?", Lisa asks.

"Yeah.. I am."

"Thank you again. You were super sweet.", Jennie says soon after smiling more.

"It's okey.", Rose answers a bit uncomfortably.

"What was your name again?", Jennie asks.

"It's Roseanne."

Jennie nods and smiles once more. Lisa gives Rose just a little smile and Rose walks away. She has only one friend, so social situations stress her out. She is not bothered by serving unknown customers, but her personal social connections are hard for her.

After 30 minutes, Jennie and Lisa get up and clean their table. They had bee talking the whole time, but Rose did not hear anything as she was far away from them on purpose. The girls walk towards the door. When they are stepping out, Jennie gives Rose a last glance and waves to her for goodbye. Rose does a small wave back for good manners.

Rose gets to her apartment at eight a clock and feels tired, as usual, after her work day. She makes herself a cup of hot tea and sits on her bed. She goes through the phone and checks Jisoo's posts on Instagram. When she is watching Jisoo's story, she gets a very unexpected notification.

Rose looks at in disbelief and opens the girl's profile. Yup, it is the same Jennie from the beach and the cafe. Her profile is public, so Rose looks through it. She has a good feed, Rose thinks.

Finally after 5 minutes, Rose accepts the follow request and follows Jennie back. Rose's feed is not anything special. She mainly posts pictures of drinks and foods she has made along with a couple of mirror selfies of her. She accepts only people like Jisoo, her cousins, some high school classmates and her work mates.

Outsider could think she has a dry life where nothing happens. It is kind of true, but Rose enjoys her quiet life. All she needs is school, food and Jisoo.

When the clock says 11pm, Rose puts her phone away and gets ready to go to bed. She likes to go sleep early as she is more of a morning person. After putting on her pyjamas, she lays on her mattress and closes her eyes.
