4 - the school hallway

Rose walks on the hallways carrying two books and her phone. She would not have a lecture until later in the afternoon; therefore, she decided to head to the library to do some studying on her own rather than stay at her apartment.

Rose hears quick footsteps coming behind her and she tilts her head to see. Brown hair just swings in the air as Jennie fast walks towards Rose. The girl looks to be in a big hurry. Jennie goes past Rose without noticing her, but that does not surprise Rose. When Jennie disappears behind a corner, Rose continues walking. She goes after where Jennie went.

"Can't you see I'm in a hurry?", Jennie asks in a very pissed voice.

"I know we were both a bit drunk then, so I am ready to forget what you said and move on together.", a male says.

"Everything I said was true! I want nothing to do with a bastard like you.", Jennie sounds angry now.

"Woah... you want someone else to find out your secret?"

"It's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm more ashamed of ever being with you."

"Shh now... how dare you to talk to me like that? I'll reveal the messages to everyone if you don't obey..."

"What are you saying?!"

Rose stands still perplexed. She did not hear the full conversation, but that does not seem good. She came to the conclusion that he is the man from the party Jennie argued with. Maybe her ex. He is such a jerk. Rose wants to do something to help Jennie, but what could it be.

"Leave me alone and we're good.", a small desperation can be heard from Jennie's voice.

"I'm not letting you go that easily. This is just a phase."

Rose does not know what this will cause, but she takes a deep breath and steps in. She walks next to Jennie.

"Jennie! Here you are. I was looking for you to see what took you so long. We need to finish the presentation now.", Rose speaks pretending to be Jennie's partner in some kind of assignment.

For a moment, Jennie is confused, but then realises what Rose is trying to do.

"Ahh sorry. I run into him.", Jennie talks.

"Doesn't matter. We just gotta go.", Rose grabs Jennie's arm and walks away with her from the guy.

When they are far enough, Jennie makes Rose stop. She looks at her.

"You don't know how thankful I am for you right now.", Jennie says with a huge smile.

"The discussion didn't look pleasant and I couldn't leave you there.", Rose mumbles and looks down.

Then, Jennie does something unexpected, at leats for Rose. She comes closer and wraps her arms around her. There Rose stands in Jennie's embrace. That is a new feeling for Rose. Only people she has ever hugged are her parents, Alice and Jisoo. Jennie is the first outside Rose's comfort zone.

When they separate, they both smile. Rose very shyly though. Jennie laughs and then looks at her watch.

"I'm so sorry, but I'll be late to my class. How can I make this up to you?", Jennie talks first.

"It's okey, you don't owe me anything."

"You have already helped me thrice. Are you my saving angel or something?" 

They both laugh.

"Come to my apartment tonight at 7pm and we'll have dinner alright?", Jennie proposes.

Rose thinks about and has no reason to say no, so she agrees. She suggests as she loves food, she can bring something. Jennie accepts that and the girls go their separate ways.

Rose cannot concentrate anymore. This is the first time in years when she has a very high possibility of making a new friend. She does not want to mess this up. Thereby, after her last lecture, she pays a visit at the grocery store and grabs ingredients of a salad. She will also bake some bread her boss taught her to bake. When it is perfect, it is the softest and delectable eating experience. Very popular in the cafe Rose works in.

Rose rushes home to have enough time to bake, cook and get herself ready. She is socially anxious and spending the evening at a new person's house is not what Rose does. Maybe this is really the sign from the universe Rose has been waiting for. That she is not meant to be alone and that she deserves more friends.

She has about three hours to do everything. Firstly, she mixes ingredients to form the dough for the bread. She puts is aside to set for half an hour. During that time she cuts vegetables for the salad. Then, Rose goes to her bedroom. She needs to decide what on earth she will wear. Usually she does not care that much, but tonight she cannot look to formal nor informal.

After 15 minutes, Rose has an outfit picked out. A white turtleneck shirt which she layers under a black floral dress that goes almost down to her ankles. She compliments it with a pair of black Dr. Martens boots. Rose looks at herself from the mirror approving the final look. She does a semi-messy bun leaving some hair strands out to frame her face. The look is finished with a stroke of red lipstick.

Rose bakes her bread and gets the salad ready. She packs her foods and stuff she needs. It is 6.45pm when she leaves her apartment. She will be walking to Jennie's, so she will be on time.
