Luke

I don't know why I felt so nervous in front of two people I've never seen before. But I did. It's like my body wouldn't stop betraying me by filling my stomach with butterflies.

"Hey Luke." Calum spoke up, giving me a small wave from his seat. I nodded back to him with a tight lip smile, sitting down right next to Ashton.

"How's it going Luke?" Michael asked, taking a sip from his lemonade. I shrugged, before taking one big bite of my cake pop, eating the whole thing since it was so small.

"It's going." I said as Ashton chuckled beside me.

"He's never been this far away from home." Ashton said, patting my shoulder. I rolled my eyes and took a sip from my drink.

"Ah, I see." Michael laughed as Calum crossed his arms and sat back. "Where are you from?"

"Lake Havasu City. It's only like three hours away." I said. Calum nodded taking in the information.

"We're all from Florida."

"Really?" I asked. I knew Ashton said he was far away from his family, but I didn't know they were in a completely different state.

"Yeah. I've always wanted to come here, and Michael always seems to do what I do. And Ashton..." he trailed off, looking into his friend's eyes. "Ashton just wanted to get out of there."

Ashton looked down at his lap, before shaking his head.

"Let's go do something fun. Something insane." Ashton then said, looking back up with a wide smile on his face. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Okay but not something too crazy, I have to call my mom in a little bit." I said softly. Michael scoffed, before reaching over and smacking my hand.

"You still call your mommy?" He laughed, Calum snickering beside him. "You're like nineteen."

"Hey lay off of him." Ashton spoke seriously. "So what if he calls his mom. There's nothing wrong with loving your family." He said, standing up and walking away. Michael rolled his eyes.

"It was just a joke. You know that right?" Michael asked. I nodded slowly, giving a nervous smile.

"Yeah. Yeah it's cool." I said, waving him off.

"Ashton's just sensitive on the topic of families." Calum said. I bit my lip, looking at Ashton push the door open to the coffee shop.

Michael and Calum then went to follow him, me right on their heels.

As I walked outside, I saw Ashton leaning back against the wall, scrolling through his phone. He licked his lips before sighing.

"What did you have in mind?" Calum spoke up, startling Ashton as he jumped a bit. He then contained himself and gave a small smirk.

"Ashton!" Calum screeched. "What the hell did you do that for?!" He whined, looking at his newly shaved head.

"Oops..." Ashton shrugged, a crooked smile on his face. Michael looked up from his phone, staring at Calum's head before busting out in laughter.

"Oh no." He said, putting down his phone and giving his full attention to Calum's hair. "This is gold." He whispered, crossing his arms.

"No Michael! No it is not!" Calum yelled, rubbing his hands on his hair, as if magically it would grow back. I bit my lip, standing in the corner of their messy dorm, trying to hold back my laugh as well.

"How am I gonna get any girls this year looking like this?" He moped, putting his head in hands.

"Cal you look good still." Ashton said, stepping back. I think he felt a little bit bad.
