The smell of musk and lavender hit my nostrils and a voice was going crazy inside my head, Mate! Mate! Mate is here! I stirred a bit and slowly blinked until my eyes grew accustom to the bright lights in this new room. I was in a different place - no longer in that hospital - I was in an unfamiliar bedroom. The walls were painted light gray, windows let in natural light - it must have been late morning or noon since it was the only light coming into the room at the moment, but it still hurt my eyes more than usual.
"Elle, I am so sorry," The voice was so close I jumped and fell out of the bed. Ezra. Mate! The voice echoed.
Instantly, he was at my side and sparks kissed my skin where Ezra's hands made contact causing me to gasp in response. I was lifted up on the the side of the bed and Ezra pulled me into an embrace, I could feel his body shaking, "Please, Elle, you need to forgive me. I never meant to do that to you."
"Um, Ezra?" I asked. I could hear which heart beat speed up. Wait... hear his heart beat.
"Yes?"
"What are you sorry for? What happened back at the hospital?"
"I marked you," His face was inches from mine and I could see the sadness in his eyes as he spoke. "It is something so intimate between mates, I wanted to talk to you and make sure you were ready before ever marking you. But hearing you talk about the notebook, it brought my wolf to the surface and before I could stop my body I was already-" Ezra turned away from me. "Anyway, I understand if you're angry. I'm just thankful you listened to me. I will do whatever it takes to prove myself."
"Wait, so you bit me?" I was trying to remember what I knew about werewolf bites. My parents kept telling me they were fatal, but obviously I was still very much here and not dead.
"Yes, again, I am so sorry I did it without your consent. When a werewolf marks a human mate it changes the human: meaning you are a werewolf now. I think my wolf emerged wanted to protect you, knowing that your prophecy wouldn't be a problem if your were in a pack of werewolves. I'm an asshole, I know. Just please don't reject me-"
"Ezra?" He finally stopped rambling. "I'm not mad... at least I don't think I am - should I be? And second, please stop apologizing for this. I'm scared: there's this voice in my head, did I hit my head really hard or something?"
Ezra's features lifted and he almost looked like he was going to laugh and cry at the same time. Instead, he provided the flawless reply, "What?"
"The voice," I furrowed my brow, trying to make it sound like I wasn't insane. "It was there when I first woke up... it keeps on calling you mate. I'm serious, did you guys check me for concussions? Was I dropped on the way here?"
Ezra was full on laughing, he had released me and was trying to support himself, "I didn't mean to laugh-" He tried to choke out between fits. "I'm sorry, I think it's all the high emotions-" More laughter. "It's just... It's that I've never heard anyone so concerned about their wolf before."
"My wolf?" I mean I guess it makes sense... being a werewolf now. Girl, you have so much to learn. I shrunk at the voice making an appearance again.
"You can think of her as your instinct. She'll catch on to things way before you may even realize, in my experience, my wolf is a bit of a smartass. And to answer your other question, no, I did not drop you," Ezra grinned up at me from the floor.
Just then my stomach rumbled. "When was the last time I ate?"
"It's only been a day - we're in the pack house right now, do you want me to mind link someone to bring us breakfast?"
I nod, "Am I able to mind link now?"
"Once you're officially Luna you will be able to mind link the pack, but we can worry about that later. You will be able to link with me once you mark me."
