"You'll get sick if you just sit in the rain like this," the boy said with a warm concerned look.
Mari stared blankly at the boy in almost disbelief, though it did not show on her face.
"Tough day in the city huh? Ever sense I've moved here it's been the same way for me too," he spoke again with a smile that tried to sympathize.
Plop plop plop
The rain drizzled on the umbrella that got louder in the silence of Mari's blank stare.
The boy looked at his watch and got a startled look on his face, "ah I'm going to be late," he looked back at Mari who was now looking up at the umbrella, "here you can have it, the umbrella I mean. I'm close to my university so if I run it won't be no problem."
Mari looked back at the boy as he gave her an urging look to take the umbrella.
Mari hesitantly clutched the umbrella handle, slighting grazing the boys hand. Once she was in full grasp the boy let go and smiled.
"I'll get going now, I hope your day gets better from here miss!" Getting out from under the umbrella he immediately gets drenched, though he hadn't seemed bothered by it at all.
He began to walk away, but Mari reached out and grabbed the clutch of his jacket. Worry slightly shown on her face and any normal person, or someone who doesn't pay any attention would have never noticed it.
The boy, surprised, smiled once more and exclaimed with pride, "don't worry! I actually really like the rain."
Though the city was gloomy that day, and more fog rolled in today then any other day this year, that day Mari felt the warmest she had ever felt in her entire life. What she didn't know though was starting that day Mari will feel so much warmer.
