It was the odd time between Christmas and New Years during your winter break, and life at home was getting rough. Your parents argued more and more, with each fight getting louder and sometimes scary. Christmas night they fought and yelled so much that you couldn't help but listen and cry in your room with your little sister, Emily. A few days later they signed their divorce statements.
It was the day after reading the divorce statements on the counter, and you had almost nothing to do since there was no homework to do, you've been cleaning the house so much over break already, and Saige (your bff) was on vacation, so you decide to call Chase and ask to come over.
The two of you have been dating since a few weeks ago after your first theatre performance when he confessed his feelings for you, the day after saving you from one of the worst situations you've ever been in. You thought Chase was pretty attractive ever since you first met him when he was new in class, but after a week and being through what you've been through together, you knew he was the most perfect, strong, wonderful, prince in shining armor you could ever ask for.
Chase answers your call and says "of course, come on over whenever you want." So you brush your hair really quick and ride your bike to his house, since it's only a mile away. Arriving at his house, you lean your bike on the wall and knock on his front door. You expect to see him or one of his little brothers to open the door, but instead you look up to see a new face. The guy smiles and says hi, and you notice he seems to have the same jaw line and similar eyes as Chase.
"Hi, uh is Chase here?" You ask him.
Before he can even answer that, you see Chase take the door from him, and he takes a step back. "Oh hey it's you, took you long enough," he says to you and opens the door wide for you to come in. You step in and hug him.
"Sorry, I had to ride my bike here. I could have walked though," you say to him while giving him a side hug. The tall guy who answered the door is standing there watching you and Chase. You notice he is a little big taller than Chase, and maybe a few years older. Chase sees the surprised and curious expression on his face looking at you.
"Oh right, Dylan this is my girlfriend," he says. Dylan had a shocked expression on his face looking from you to Chase, then he also seems impressed. Chase then turns to look at you. "This is my older brother, Dylan. He's in college but he came home for the holidays."
"That's neat. Nice to meet you Dylan," you say happily, with a bit of shyness in you.
"Nice to meet you too," turning back to Chase he says, "Bro you didn't tell me you-"
Chase interrupts him and says, "Yep I know. C'mon, girlfriend!" He takes your hand and drags you away up the stairs running away from Dylan smiling. You laugh and blush inside every time he calls you 'girlfriend' especially in front of people. Laughing, you wave back to Dylan as your run up the stairs following Chase. You can tell his brother has a "what the heck is that kid up to" expression on his face.
You and Chase go into his room laughing and you flop on the bed as he closes the door. "What in the world?" You can't stop laughing and can't get up because of it. "Wait, so, you have an older brother and you didn't tell me, then he didn't even know you had a girlfriend until just now?"
Laughing he says, "Yeah sorry I didn't tell you about him, I guess it's just weird with him being away at college. And trust me I struggled not to tell him about you, but I wanted to see the confused look on his face when you showed up." He flops onto the bed next to you laughing. "It was so worth it! He's so confused! Ha!" That last statement makes you laugh harder, until you finally remember what the heck you came to talk to him about.
The both of you started calming down. "Want some water?" He asks you as he reaches into his mini-fridge and pulls out two water bottles. You nod your head. "So was there something you wanted to talk about? You didn't seem to happy on the phone a while ago."
