A Typical Romance (Continuation of Quite The Week)

Chapter 4

It started out as a normal day at school in late January and you wait with Saige at your locker for Chase to get there. It's become a routine for the two of you to walk to your first class in the morning, and every Monday you surprise him with his favorite drink from your favorite local coffee shop, Cozy Coffee and Chairs also known as CCC. This morning however, you see Chase walking to your locker with someone you've never seen before.

"Hey girlfriend!" He walks up to you and gives you a side hug.

"Sup mi amigo." You hand him his coffee as you hug back.

"Ooh thank you," he says. "Oh hey Saige"

"Hey Chase," she says then, both you and her look at he guy standing next to Chase who walked over with him.

"Oh right, guys this is my best friend Tyler. We were best bros back before I moved here and now he finally moved here too. Tyler this is my girlfriend, and her friend Saige."

"Nice to meet you guys," Tyler said. Turning to you he says, "I've heard a lot about you."

"Oh that's neat. I'm honored. And it's great to meet you too!" You say.

"Nice to meet you," Saige says to Tyler. She looks at him in a way that makes your heart flutter for her. You have a feeling they'll get along really well.

"Saige, wow, I've never heard that name before. It's really pretty," he says and then almost says to himself, "pretty just like you."

Chase seems to tell that Tyler might like Saige, just as you think the same might be for Saige.

"Let's go to class, shall we?" You say and take Chase's hand. "See you later Saige!"

"See ya sister!" She says and winks at you like she always does when you and Chase hold hands.

"Tyler has his first class with us too," Chase tells you as Tyler follows the two of you.

"That's so cool. How come you didn't tell me he was moving here and coming to our school though?"

"He surprised me," Chase says almost laughing.

The three of you make it to your first class, and you are really happy Chase has another friend at school who's a guy. Ever since ditched the mean football guys, he hasn't really been able to make many friends with guys. Tyler is assigned a seat right behind your ex-crush, and you and Chase look at each other. You can tell your ex-crush tries to start being friends with Tyler until he sees Chase looking at him and he starts to back off.

Class is boring as usual except that Tyler, being the new kid, was introduced in front of the entire class; you could tell a few of the girls thought he was really cute, especially having long-ish curly blonde hair.

After class, you said bye to the two guys and walked to your second class, but Chase and Tyler had their next class together as well so they continued to talk. "Hey you know the guy who sat in front of you who was talking to you?"

"Yeah he seemed chill. What about him?"

"Not trying telling you who to hang out with or not, but um... he kind of kicked my girlfriend a while ago... so you might not wanna be friends with him..."

"What? Kicked your girlfriend? What do you mean kind of? As in, said something mean to her?"

"Well that and I mean he kicked her... literally. He bullied her right before we started dating. I found her in the hallway one day getting beat up by him and his friends."

"Oh my gosh bro, that's horrible! What did you do? Is that how you met?"

"Yeah that's sort of the day we became good friends then I started discovering I had feelings for her. And also he and I never talk because when I rescued her from them, I kind of punched him really hard..."

"Dude! I get I've been busy but you should tell me these things before I start making friends at this school, plus how could anyone possibly think of hurting her? She's so nice not to mention pretty."

"I don't understand either, and I didn't tell you because we both decided it would be best not to spread the word too much."

Tyler understood, but was still comprehending it all. Both of them continued to walk to class.

Eventually it was time for lunch and the four of you all sat together. Tyler had some funny stories to share about when he and Chase were little boys and met on an Upwards soccer team in first grade. You and Saige laughed a lot, but especially Saige. You and Chase looked at each other as Saige and Tyler were talking.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" You whisper to Chase.

"Set them up on a date?" He says back.

"Yes, but I don't know if they really want to go on a date so soon, and they should be together before valentines day," you explain to Chase quietly as Saige and Tyler are distracted talking to each other about their hobbies.

"Why before Valentines Day? That's 3 weeks away, sort of soon," Chase laughs.

"Why not? Saige and I have been single Pringles every year together until this year and I don't want her to feel lonely. Plus, just look at the two of them."Chase and you glance at your best friends and see how much fun they're having just talking. "I have an idea, we've been wanting to go ice skating sometime this winter anyways, why not invite them? It could be like a double date but they'll only think it's hanging out..."

"Sneaky, I like it," Chase smirks at you then both of you almost try not to laugh. "This could work, ice skating does bond people, especially if we skate separate from them for a little bit then they'll stick together and realize they like each other."

"Exactly!" You and Chase laugh but are excited. "How about this Friday?"

"That works for me! Tyler's going to be living with me for a few days since the furniture hasn't come to his house yet, and so we can just come and pick you and Saige up from your dad's house?"

"Sure! Let's make sure they're not busy then." You and Chase tell Saige and Tyler about going ice skating on Friday night, and they're both up for it.

"It's a date then! Friday at 6," you say and Chase can't help but laugh since it really will be a date for them in disguise.
